You should probably indicate which titles are mp3 sourced if you want to get anybody to trade with you. Just looking at your list, you have many shows that were posted on this board in mp3 format. People will see this and figure that you're trading mp3 sourced discs that you downloaded here. Traders will not want to trade for mp3's so it would help if you indicated which shows were mp3 sourced so prospective traders can take or leave them.

Eric

if monkeyman likes to boast of his colletion this is his problem, but i think you have many cd converted from mp3 to flac and you don't know about it

anyway if you write posts like this, you should to sign your posts "Expert" and add of course "for diagrams" because you know too little about music. like usualy all flac lovers. they never talk about music. they only can talk about diagrams, graphs or kHz. music is not important for them.

and 1 thing more. for myself music is good or bad, and kind of files is not important. i remember time when i was beginning to listen music. it was MONO time. should i now stop love that music because of existing STEREO?

sorry but posts like your can not be treated serious. this is not post of real music lover. try to think from time to time. this is second proof that you have a troubles with thinking

Kream,
what I meant was that the last time somebody asked monkey man the question which TumblinDice asked, monkey man said that "I don't know what you mean, they are all CD-quality".
I've been fooled myself by MP3s converted to FLAC, they can sound really good.
I didn't say anything about the things you're referring to.

> "sorry but posts like your can not be treated
> serious. this is not post of real music lover. try

So I have problems with my thinking? Hmmm, how can that be?
I don't take stands in the Flac->MP3 discussion, people are free to choose themselves.
It's just common sense, that you make the trader aware if your music comes from MP3s or CD-copies.
You don't have to start this "fight" with me, as I'm not critisizing MP3s in general here. You do some great uploads here, even though I don't download them. When you're not asking for pictures of the women of IORR in return, you're doing a good job.

kream, i think we already had that one...

why is it so hard for you to believe that somebody a) loves music AND b) enjoys the best possible quality?

when I was young I was listening to MONO-records as well (like you) then stereo came the way and decades later I'm listening to mono and stereo-recordings and I don't care at all. but I would never try to mix a stereo-recording down to mono to save space on my harddisc, why should I?

when the industry came up with the CD it was comfortable to follow as the handling of a CD is much easier in any way one can imagine. but quality-wise it was a big step back - vinyl-records are better - at least as long as they're produced well and if you play them for the first time.

but by now CDs are kind of state-of-the-art and with flac-files it's possible to transfer what's left in slightly reduced size. reducing to MP3-format is good for those who don't have unlimited traffic and broadband internet but for nothing else.

human ears normally hears from 16 to 20,000 Hz at the age of about 5 and grown-ups mostly "suffers" from a limit at about 14,000 to 16,000 Hz. so on one hand you're right - usually no one can tell the difference between the flac and the MP3-format which is truncated at the high-end. but me I'm half blind without my contact-lenses but my ears works excellent and I still can note signals up to 23,000 Hz - so when I compare a compressed format to an uncompressed one it's easy for me to differ between them.

but anyway - apart from the question if somebody hears the difference or not - what is it good for in the end? we live in a world of growing possibilities and I would never step back from my new 140 cm TV set to a small 57cm one which I had back in the 70s - you can easily argue that the movie is the same but I tell you it's more fun to watch on a big screen compared to the small one. same with the music - why should I listen to music in compressed format when it's available in uncompressed form and when I CAN hear the difference? Not too long ago I downloaded all Black Sabbath CDs (from the first album up to 1978) and after I realized how good they are I bought them all in original form to get in touch with the full sound. Finally I even bought most of them on vinyl for the full experience ;-)

it seems we share at least some favourite band and I bet we both love music and for the both of us it's a big part of our lives. so whenever you come to Austria let me know - you're welcome for a beer and for a listening session on my HiFi and I BET you WILL here the difference !! :-)

cheers

Mr. Silkcut1978

Problem is not in flac files. Everybody can listen what likes more. I know everything what you wrote about from long time. I’m not flac’s enemy. I don’t like them only because they are too big without any need. They are 5 or 10 times bigger than mp3. What for? Only heavens know.
I wrote it because I don’t like people saying that they want lossless only. They are not real music lover. Probably they can not see different between rock and hard rock or between hard rock and heavy metal for example. They never say about music anything because they have nothing to say. They can say one thing only: "i want flac files" They know only 1 band and not exactly even. There is many this kind listeners of music in the web.

I’m collecting shows from many years. And if I’ve found something new for me I never ask what kind of files. The most important for me is to have this show or boot. And I think the most huge collectors in web do the same. Authentic collector and music lover never ask about kind files first. I always can search better version later. That’s all.

Thank you for invitation. it can be great experience for me to see your Hi-Fi. probably i never got the chance to see it earlier. grinning smiley

Maybe in future smiling smiley M.

I see what you mean, same with me - better to have something in MP3-format than to have nothing :-)

373 stones
83 springsteen
23 bryan adams
38 bon jovi
93 (incl. Keith Richards, J.Geils Band, Mellencamp, Knopfler, Clapton...)

@ kream: I read your posts above, and understand your matter better, than I did last time. I am futhermore pissed by your personal offences, when I mistreated mp3's and do not understand why you explode this way, if someone said something bad about mp3's, but thats another story.

I agree, that to HAVE a show is more important than a high-frequented recording, especially for us "normal" listeners. And defending flacs to death is surely not worth the "fight".
But I see no use of converting flacs to mp3's because of space and better handling... So I think everyone has to go his own way...
Blank the word "shitty" from my last post, which was rather ment as "reduced" by the way, and I think there is no problem left.*g*
And finally, of course I dont know how many of my shows were mp3's, cause I traded for discs and just loaded flacs; but to be honest: this distracts me in NO way, because I love listening to the music and not think about a frequence-diagram :-)

about 350 original bootlegs...but if tomorrow I collect CDR or MP3 stuff, I could get easily more than 1000 titles...

Kream, at torrent-sites, people are interested in downloading, and knowing what quality the recording is in. We talk about music at messageboards, for instance Tell Me. Or...maybe one don't take part of such a forum, it can be enough to listen to the music alone.

When you post your shows here at HotStuff, you don't discuss the shows either.
In fact, you want them all to send you their e-mail address, and pictures (!) of the girls, and say "thank you thank you". But the guy who recorded the show, and the guy who bought the CD (or recieved it in a trade) and uploaded it to the net, who also deserves "a big thank you", don't get mentioned
There's not much discussion about the performance in those threads.

You're welcome to TellMe at IORR where you'll find both people who prefer Flac, MP3 or no maybe don't want any bootlegs at all.
You're no judge who can say who's a "real music lover" and who's a "diagram-lover", or whatever wierd expressions you prefer.
What makes you the pope of this dump ?

you can be sure it's not you. you can be only judge in diagrams or graphs. but never try to talk anything about music. your knowlege of music is too small.

this is proof No 3 for what i was talking earlier about!

yes, i'm really dreaming about your picture which is missing in my collection. collection pics of people without sense of humour /i'm too kind to tell more/ you have to be sad man. you know that you are not smart man. this is proof No 1. i'm sure you know what i mean and i think i don't have to tell more about it.

you really don't know what you are talking about!

it's not true of course. you forgot to add "in my opinion"

and i always talk about real music lovers not about silvers cd collectors. people are collecting many different things not from music only. so i don't know what you want to say??

Is it ? It's absurd to say that about someone you don't know.
I'm not into diagrams either, BTW.

Are you serious? Yes "you're too kind to tell more", you don't know me at all.
People with a sense of humour, will see that "what makes you the pope of this dump" is a funny expression, it's not a attack or an insult.
But your reply to me, makes it more clear that you really consider yourself to have that "pope of this dump"-title.

>>you know that you are not smart man.<<

How can you say such a thing ?
You have to throw insults at people? I don't do that in my post above.
Goes to show that you're very childish.
