Need help with DVD burning please

Hi,
I try to copy a DVD9. I use Nero which is a great programme. Trouble is that it can't be burned to a DVD after I have copied the DVD9. There's not enough room on the disc.
I wondered what to do..Is there special programs for copying DVD9, or is it possible to buy a "different" DVD to burn on?
Suggestions are welcome!

Nero update with RELOAD?
Where can I find that, please? I've never updated the Nero software (Nero7).
Is the choice "Reload" available in the Nero-software itself, or on the net?
Thanks for answering, 55 Rusty!

Hi Erik,
If you have a "clean"^^ version of Nero, just click on the upper right sign of nero.
this will show you which version is installed, and which version is availlable on the net - you can update (iff ya can^^)

I'm reading this differently. Are you trying to burn a dual-layer dvd9 onto a single layer dvd? Does your dvd burner only support single layer discs?

If this is so, then you need DVD SHRINK, the latest version is 3.2 & it's freeware, do a google to find the d/l closest to you.

What it does is go thru the dual layer to see how big it is & then puts a compressed version (to fit a single layer) onto your HD, There's a little screen you can watch to see it doing it's bit. (Last of the Mohicans took about 20 mins). Once it's on your HD you can burn it as normal with whatever burning software you've got. If you can burn single layers OK then you don't need to upgrade. Yes, it's compressed, but not so you'd notice.

Please excuse this if I've mis-read your question.

Erik, I don't think Nero 7 burns DVD-9's (=double layered). DVD Shrink vox12string advised is excellent. You have the option to compress and burn on 1 disc (other then with MP-3's you won't notice the difference, compression is mostly >60%), or divide the chapters over 2 discs (say feature on 1st, bonus material on 2nd). If you choose the last option the only drawback is that the menu loses its function, though you can still see it. You have to skip through the chapters. The great thing with compression is that you can leave out things you don't need (arabic subtitles, etc.) to keep compression as small as possible.

Eric, Nero 7 should have all updated already.Check the home page.
I use Nero 6 + the update from a PC Magazine

I use also Shrink to bring the Movies on the PC
but without any compression - that's why I have a double layer -

55 Rusty, I only have a "illegal" copy of Nero7, so I hesitate about visiting their homepage. Perhaps it makes no difference, or....?

Talk to someone who has just bought a new cd-burner/DVD-burner or a new computer, and copy their disc.

Put the VOB and IFO files on your harddisk.

Use DVDShrink to make the files smaller, and they'll fit on your 4 GB DVD-disc.

Easy and fast!

ehemm, with your version^^ of nero you should stay away of their site.
It's bound to not work at all if you do.

Eric, I can't expain in english

Nero 7 hat alle updates um mit einem double layer zu brennen.
Bei Nero Buring Rom ist am unteren ende eine schwarze Linie,
die den Speicherplatz einer DVD anzeigt.

I I I I I I II I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I
750MB 4500MB 8250MB

Man kann die Einstellung ändern von 4500 zu 8500MB,
ich weiß aber nicht mehr wie. SORRY.

Don't use the homepage if you don't have the Reg.number.

GREAT, what was the problem ?

The problem was that I tried to burn it as a regular DVD at first, but that didn't work,
so I searched for the function for re-coding the DVD into 4,7 GB...the black line you wrote about, and then copied to hard-disk and to DVD.
So it was a part of Nero7, I just didn't know about it at first.
