The Boomtown Rats did a cover called Under Their Thumb which is UMT with different lyrics. You can find it on Mondo Bongo from '81. Is this the version you are looking for?

Back in the late 70's era, a Canadian band called Streetheart did a cover version of Under My Thumb, which was a minor hit here in Canada.

Its not the Boomtown Rats version...it was in 82 and I never heard of this band again!

I believe the name of the band was The Hounds and the album was called "Putting on the Dogs". The album came out in the late '70s or early '80s. The song had a new wave sound to it.

I had the album back in college but lost most of my albums when the basement flooded a few years ago. I too would love to hear the song again.
