Sure you can have mono in one channel but then you would here the sound on the left OR the right side which doesn't make no sense at all.

Mono in this case means, that both signals from the left and right channel are the same but you still have 2 channels.

here's an example: in another land, tsmr 2017 ed, mono and stereo

if the audio content of both channels is identical, you actually have a mono sound.

a stereo file has two channels which are not identical


media-info in both cases, mono and stereo, will say 2-channel audio.

Thanks guys clear enough.

When i listen to a stereo track on my stereo i actually hear different from each speakers but for some reason i was thinking Mediainfo would say 1 channel or mono. I don't know what i was thinking.
