Clinton a "do nothing" president? THATS the pinnacle of ignorant statements! Yeah, he did nothing but hand off a balanced budget.

And what about Reagan ? Nixon ? Roosevelt ? George Washington ??
Are we sure G. Washington wasn't an African American ?? grinning smiley

LOL - it's OK Aslecs, we'll welcome you into the Clinton Democratic circle! winking smiley

It's a shame that 8 years of hell punished the Republican party as bad as it did. I didn't like McCain at first either, but after listening to his imprisonment story at the convention, I was really moved and felt much better voting for him. Just because you're a military vet doesn't make you a great president, but someone who would stay imprisoned so others could be let go.....that says a lot about character IMHO.

people just don't get it - it's a 180 degree about-face, and not just on the whacked out policies, but when it comes to God and Israel and the future of mankind.

You want your President to screw up?

Good attitude my friend.

You can't bugger things up anymore than Bush has eh?

I, for won, am proud to be an American today. No one has any reason to fear Barack Obama as President. He brings some energy and spirit, and not to sound cliche, but he also brings the change we need.

The country faces the same risks and problems no matter who is in office. Anyone who feels the country would have been "safer" with McCain in office is just ignorant.

He campaigned his heart out, and now the American people have spoken. If we didn't want him, he wouldn't have won.

now that is a really intelligent and mature attitude. you wish your president fvcks up....haha! but let me tell you: the screwing up has been done in the last 8 years (and started with a stolen election).
why do you think more then 80 percent of americans think that bush's way was the wrong way? JUSTICE FOR ALL!!!

the way it's currently "right"? you've had 8 years with your hero screwing it up - can't get any worse with your choice.

Let's drink to the hard working people
Let's drink to the lowly of birth
Raise your glass to the good and the evil
Let's drink to the salt of the earth

Say a prayer for the common foot soldier
Spare a thought for his back breaking work
Say a prayer for his wife and his children
Who burn the fires and who still till the earth

And when I search a faceless crowd
A swirling mass of gray and black and white
They don't look real to me
In fact, they look so strange

Raise your glass to the hard working people
Let's drink to the uncounted heads
Let's think of the wavering millions
Who need leaders but get gamblers instead

Spare a thought for the stay-at-home voter
His empty eyes gaze at strange beauty shows
And a parade of the gray suited grafters
A choice of cancer or polio

And when I look in the faceless crowd
A swirling mass of grays and black and white
They don't look real to me
Or don't they look so strange

Let's drink to the hard working people
Let's think of the lowly of birth
Spare a thought for the rag taggy people
Let's drink to the salt of the earth

Let's drink to the hard working people
Let's drink to the salt of the earth
Let's drink to the two thousand million
Let's think of the humble of birth

Lets raise our drink
To the salt of the earth
Lets raise our drink
To the salt of the earth.......

Yesterday was truly an historic day for the United States and in fact, the world because of America's impact on the world.

Although racism has not been totally eliminated in the United States, a tremedous step towards equality has been made. Although I'm 58 and a child of the sixties, I have to confess I'm amazed that an African American has been elected President in my life time. I remember all too well the struggles of the civil rights period and it's so thrilling to realize I have lived long enough to witness this day.

I'm also totally amazed that we now have a President who has a global consciousness. Someone who is aware that we do not rule the world, can not go our way alone, and that we need to renew our relationships with the world and work together to improve our planet. The climate crisis, the economic crisis, and many other problems can not be solved by working alone. At last we have a leader who understands we must all work together.

We also have a President who will represent all the citizens of this country regardless of race, religion, economic status and all the other barriers that can seperate us.

Their is a tremendous amount of work to be done for sure. However, we now have someone who understands the problems and what the solutions need to be. Certainly, it won't be easy and it won't all be accomplished over night. However we have started down a new road of hope. There will be those who will say this can't be done, or it's the wrong thing to do. We can't allow ourselves to be distracted from the important work to do. There is certainly room for intelligent disagreement and a need to work together with those who have sincere, well thought out differences.

Today is the day to celebrate. To look forward to a new dawn of hope and possibilities.

And to quote from a song....today I can join in on .....

"I'm proud to be an American!"
