OT Budweiser American Ale
Posted by: bassplayer617 ()

Tried this for the first time today. It IS definitely for the American palate, so the Europeans may sneer at it. It is full-bodied with no hint of bitterness, nor is it too sweet. It is malty, with a sweet aroma, and it has a pleasing light reddish-brown color.

AFAIK, this is the first AB ale ever. I'd recommend it to the US beer drinkers. It's the best-tasting AB product I've ever tried.

So funny you posted this - I was already planning on drinking the new Bud rather than my Bud Light this evening.

Their Shock Top white ale is pretty good on tap, not so good in the bottle. I haven't tried the new ale yet, I think I will go do that now!

The belgian beer weekend in Brussels Grand Place (Grote Markt) is THE place to beer if you know what good beer is:

Kooky, misinformed Europeans: here's a small sample of what the American palate can drink:
How about the best bock beer?
98 • Capital Brewery Blonde Doppelbock.
Deep reddish amber color. Dense aromas of fruity caramel, spicy honey, and golden raisin bread. A rich, powerful, yet effortless entry leads to a satiny medium-full body of enveloping layers of caramel, toasted grains and breads, marmalade, and delicate spices. Finishes with an extremely long and raw honey, dried apricot, and mild, earthy hop flourish. Remarkably flavorful and insanely drinkable. (tasted on Feb-27-2007)

or, for you Belgians, the best fruit beers?

98 • New Glarus Brewing Co. Raspberry Tart.
Deep ruby color. Rich fresh picked raspberry aromas. A vibrant entry leads to a richly fruity and tangy full body of tart crushed raspberries and cream of wheat like malt. Finishes for a mile with a mouthwatering raspberry puree on toast fade. The richness, purity, and depth of the 3-D raspberry flavors is amazing. A must-try fruit beer. (tasted on Aug-24-2007)
96 • New Glarus Brewing Co. Wisconsin Belgian Red.
Hazy maroon mahogany color. Perfumed bing and maraschino cherry and wheat cracker aromas. A rich, frothy entry leads to tangy, dry-yet-fruity full body of lavish melange of cherry, almond biscotti, and subtle anise flavors. Finishes with a long, mouthwatering sour cherry fade. Utterly delicious and extremely drinkable. Do so. (tasted on Aug-24-2007)

And if you want Milwaukee beers, try some of Sprecher's Black Bavarian or Lakefront's Cream City Pale Ale

Just a small sampling from Wisconsin...

No lager can claim to be the 'best beer'.

It has to be a real ale. Cask conditioned, totally fresh and not filled with nitrogen and gas, as all lagers are.

To read about truely good beers, visit: www.ratebeer.com

See the poor ratings given to the likes of Stella, Budweiser, Heineken etc.

Maybe some here wil then go on to discover some truely exceptional beers.

I prefer any Canadian beer, personally.
Sleeman's, Keith's, hell, even Molson.

You mean Bud is your favorite. To say it is the best is only a statement of opinion.
