"Everything Is Turning To Gold" gets my vote for best non-album b-side.

"You Can't Always Get What You Want" (in spite of the editing) for album track b-side.

I can't really name one special favourite but "Think I'm Going Mad" (B-side of She Was Hot) may be a candidate.

"Sad Day", which was originally a B-side to "19th Nervous Breakdown" in the US - but also later an A-side in its own right in England (did not know that last bit -Adam Clayson: "The Rolling Stones album file and complete discography", p. 324)

Other contenders "I Want To Be Loved" (B-side to "Come On") and "Stoned" (B-side to "I Wanna Be Your Man"......in fact most of their B-sides in the 1960's come to think of it ;-)

I think Long, Long While is one of better early b-sides.

Ruby Tuesday

In America, Ruby Tuesday/Let's Spend The Night Together was sort of a double A-sidded single. Technically, since Ruby Tuesday hit #1 and LSTNT only reached #55, I guess Ruby Tuesday would have to be considered the A-side, at least in hindsight.

OK, I'll go for Dandelion then.

Another double A-side in the States. Dandelion peaked at #14. We Love You at #50.

Other double A-sides in which BOTH songs made the US charts:

The Last Time/Play With Fire: The Last Time peaked at #9. PWF only made it to #96.

Mother's Little Helper/Lady Jane: MLH was the hit, reaching #8. Lady Jane peaked at #24.

What made a single a "Double-A side" ?
Is it just after the flip side became a hit too?

Yeah, I think it was something that was largely determined by disc jockeys when they began getting requests from their listeners to flip the record over and play the other side because the song on the other side was just as good if not better. The Beatles had MANY double A-sides, some of which, like Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane, seem to have been INTENDED as such.

I think Blue is the best b-side ever. But as for the stones b-sides I really like all of them. Jump On Top Of Me and Wish I'd Never Met You especially.

I know many people wouldn't name it as their favourite (except for Mr. J. Murphy obviously) cause it's not from their classic period but I always thought everything is turning to gold is a great great song!

my understanding is that double A-sides are quite often designated as such by the record companies -
in advance, i mean, not just "retrospectively" as people are suggesting.

"Fancy Man Blues"

However, it was really hard not to choose "Through the Lonely Nights", "Think I'm Going Mad" or "Jump on Top of Me Baby"
