Only the Italian collector who has the one in Dieter's book. He is the only one I know that has the stock copy. But nice to know that Silkcut has the acetate.

my English "Poison Ivy":

have it framed behind glass and it was hard to make it look any good.

Hi Silkcut, great, great acetate item and never seen before.

... not only stone-relics would take this item off your hands, me too ;-)

Do you collect mainly german records -singles , LP's, or ?

Cheers, Andreas!

Hi Andreas,

I'll try to make it short ;-) I've been collecting now for about 35 years but it wasn't until last year that I decided to cencentrate on a few markets only. In first line I'm trying to make my German singles complete - maybe you like to see what I have (and what I miss by the way) - it's here on [www.vinylstones.org]

I spent nearly 1/2 a year in creating this site but now at least the German part is nearly done (still there are a few errors but I'll repair them step by step). Would be glad to get some feedback anyway :-)

Cheers
Thomas

I like your site very much. I have learned a lot from it. Also great pictures. I am eagerly awaiting the section for LP's and UK pressings. Thank you for your effort!

Thank you frankotero, you're welcome! :-)

But please don't hold your breath for the UK-section - I started with it to get a feeling of the way it should look like but there is so much vinyl around to scan that I almost don't know where to start. But I'll do my best anyway.

And for the LPs I've to find an A3-sized scanner that works properly but one day I'll have one and then I'm ready for the next experience.

Cheers
Thomas

I too am looking for an A3 scanner. If I ever do, I'll stay busy to my dying day. Anyway, I'm looking forward to your German LP information. I have a few myself, but not very educated in this area. Would be very beneficial. I really like the red wine labels with gold letters. Do you know which album was the last for this, and when they started the flat red? Also I'm curious if all the early (flat red) had the royal sound logo on the label. Thanks in advance for the help.

Just had a quick look and hope I didn't confuse the order of release when I sorted my LPs after my last move

- the last winered label with an oval DECCA-logo was the club-edition of "The Best Of Beat"
- the last winered label with an rectangle around the DECCA-letters was "Between The Buttons"

- "Flowers" was the first with the newly designed flat red label with black letters (both, the standard & the club edition), both versions carry the "Royal Sound Stereo"-enblem

- Great Hits (1967) doesn't have the Royal Sound-imprint

- Beggars Banquet (Bild und Funk) has the "Royal Sound"-imprint, but not the standard edition (at least not mine)

All for now as I'm leaving home in a minute. Let me know if can give you any more information.

Cheers

I haven't listened to it for ages because of the way I have it stored (away from any sun- and daylight) - see here:

On the top left is the Emidisc of "Heart Of Stone", on the top right "Poison Ivy".

But it's the single version to which Zentgraf refers as take II but it might be take I but it's NOT the EP-version anyway.

Ok, just found a transfer to MD which I did a decade ago. There it is right after "Acid In the Grass" (what a combination;-) and in fact it is take II as I can clearly hear the percussions during the chorus.

hope that helps,
silkcut

edit: thanks for the question straycat - now I'm listening to "Dream Pipe" for the first time in so many years. Anyone familiar with this tune from the Satanic-sessions?

just to add something to this incredible thread - 2 LPs that belongs to the top rarities from the German market:

absolute stunning items with incredible sound quality - to say it in a polite way they sound far superior compared with releases from (for example) the U.S.

Once heard the story that most of the Mastertapes were stored in Germany back in the 60s. Might be wrong or right but everytime I'm listening to the old German LPs I think it might be true.

BTW: congratulations for the Poison Ivy acetate; may I know how did you find this gem?

By pure coincidence - when I was in London in 1993 (at least I think so, maybe it was 1992) to buy the Necrophilia acetate I vistied the Vinyl Experience as well and there it was. I bought it together with a one-sided acetate from Beggars Banquet and honestly I can't remember anymore but I think the price was about GPB 650 - but I may be wrong on this one.

Dream Pipe comes from a double-sided Bell Sound-acetate and I'm open fur suggestions but sorry, no upload of stuff I spent a fortune on - I'm sure you'll understand. Also it might simply be a working title it's a song I've never heard anywhere else.

Hey Silkcut I heard the story about Decca tapes being kept in Germany. The collector/vendor informed me that some true stereo tracks were on records made only in Germany. Also he said that overall Germany was producing the highest quality Stones records at the time, and the best years were near the end of the sixties. Does that sound right?

Re: Add photos of your rarities....

Hi franketero, personally I think so, yes. JR once wrote that the MONO Let It Bleed is so great and he's absolutely right. But when it comes to the stereo-releases the German one can't be beat. And even when you compare the CD-releases from the 80s the German ones are still the best - by far I would say and I can't believe how bad the American releases from that time were/are.

For the Stereo-versions on vinyl I'm not too sure - many of the songs that turned up in Stereo out from nowhere were released in England as well (at least I think so) - Time Is On my Side on Milestsones, Everybody & Down The Road Apiece on Rock'n'Rolling Stones, 2120 SMA on No Stone Unturned and quite a few more. But the only song I can think of that wasn't released in the UK is What A Shame - released only in Italy it was said that this record in fact was produced in Germany.

What happend to thread of the year 2008! (at least it was for me)

Let's get the party started....

Then some fun paper stuff.... some backstage signs. My favourites are definately "No Security" ones as the whole yellow and black tape design echos the forbidden mystical nature of the backstage area at a Stones gig.

... and here my no-security stuff, inspired by Matt Lee :-)

official record+cd, japan cd, 2 singles, 1 promo, 1 promo triple cd set incl. an Interview disc

... years ago I bought that picture below in Austria at a Gallery in Salzburg and I was told, that this was made from a photo and added with colors (painted with a brush) - applied on wood and 68x68cm large-, done by a well known austrian artist, unfortunately I forgot the name. Probably somebody out there can help with the name of the artist :-)

For me this is a great image of Keith. It is hanging on the wall of my "music room".

We had the same here in Austria and I had mine on the wall for ages when I was still a teenager. It's burried deep now somewhere. Are you sure it's Austrialian?
