Bridges to Bremen - sept. 2nd 1998

Yeah,I know it´s sept. 1st today but it just came into my mind.

10 years ago this fantastic show took place in Bremen ,almost at the end of the 2nd leg
of the (IMO underrated BTB-tour resulting maybe of heavily criticised releases with No Security and the St. Louis video/DVD).

Great songs (Memory Motel-Saint of me-Out of Control...) a wonderful solo perfoming
Keith, the band´s straight - what could you wish more ?

And it was broadcasted - I really enjoy watching and listening to this show !

Excellent show.

The Japanese broadcast was exceptional quality. Just a shame it skips a few numbers.

Paint It Black and Miss You of that show are probably the best versions they every played in the nineties...

Unfortunately the UK was one of the few countries in Europe and North Africa which didnt get the live broadcast - an extra kick in the teeth after having our shows postponed until 1999.

I suppose they didnt want to kill the 'surprise' element of the show - although that criteria didnt seem to apply when they did PPV shows in the US before a tour ended.

I think we got the edited version about a year later.

Its a terrific show, IMO.

Eh,...,before they make me run,.....,or get stoned,......,Germans,....,
not famous for their enthusiasm .

Furthermore stadiumshows(if not in Buenos Aires or Barcelona) are more difficult concerning the crowd than arena or for sure club shows.

Infield might dance, shout or freaking around, but upper rows distant 100 meters ?

And what about for example Austin 2006 on Biggest Bang ?

See many (younger) people with their mobiles shaking, laughing in the first rows,no upper rows ´cause it´s a park, not that "burning" crowd,or ?

By the way, they are not the only lame, some others come into my mind as well !

It was a great show indeed. I was front row, Ronnie's side - my usual spot.

I've been there too.

It's been a good show! And the audience wasn't that lame!!

But as there had been so many Btb shows before Bremen the stadium wasn't full and so they gave away tics for free shortly before showstart to fill the place for the sceening.

I can remember this being aired in Italy as well.

I was exited and prepared for a great party, but the concert was slaughtered by incessant absolutely stupid opinions of the commentators between the songs.

I understand they need to sabotage the show somehow to prevent bootlegs, but why can't they ask someone competent to make the job!

Must have the VHS tape somewhere.

I remember earlier that day only about half the tickets were sold. About 30 minutes before the Stones came on I went to the back of the stadium for the toilet and it was very empty back there.

I remember it as a good show. The barriers they usually used to make the FOS area were used to protect the cameras so it was all open on the field.

Well, I was at this show. I thought the audience was lame then and I think the same now when I watch the dvd. My opinion. Any trouble with that?

I remember watching live with a friend.
There was a 30-min. delay between the start of the show and the beginning of the broadcast.

The french PPV channel Canal Plus did the broadcast.
No speaker, no comments, just the Stones in great stereo ( for those who had Canal Plus thru satellite.
We watched the mono version and I remember there was a slight delay between the sound and image, but a collegue made me an awesome recording of the stereo version.

I remember the lame german audience, and Keith messing up the vocals in Memory Motel. It was also the 1st time a Stones concert was broadcast in another African country than South Africa : Côte d'Ivoire.

Even stadium concerts in Norway can get crazier than this, and that says a lot

<and Keith messing up the vocals in Memory Motel>

I think Keith thought it was Mick that messed up. "Three times it is now...", he even said it his mike.

But clearly it was Keith's fault smiling smiley

I love this show!

My favourite of the Babylon Pro-shots (though all of 'em are quite brilliant I think). Bremen has something about it though that gives it the egde

Man, I dont care what you think of the audience.

But remember, in a stadium the impressions can be very different!
Things like this happened on many dates. Some said great, some shit, depending where they've been.
Where I stood there was a very good feeling all around.
