Shine A Light (revisited) and Buddy Guy

Today I did watch the dvd "Shine A Light" (very cheap...only 15,99 euro in The Netherlands).

I just love "Champaign and Reefer" with Buddy Guy and also "Some Girls" (Mick on guitar, great!).

But for the rest? My local pub-band is much better...I find it a big shock...Mick with his movements....Keef playing his guitar and in the meanwhile watching how the hired girls in the frontrow react.....I find it sad... (and who is that guy for South Africa, the 3rd guitar-player??)

I am sad.

Keep giving your opinions Keef!!!

Let that @#$%& Albett go wank off and Stones fans who know good music when they hear it need to keep on these guys to step up their game.

PS - I agree with you Keef, I rented the DVD and thought I was in Las Vegas
watching one of those shows... been hearing all this buzz about how Ronnie was
carrying the tour but he was shoved aside on this show so Keith could stick himself out front... not the Stones I remember...

Jagger antics are un-watchable, Mick your 60 plus years old!! those young girls
in the front row were PAID FOR!! it aint 1969 anymore...

I won't bother with these guys anymore until they invite Taylor to sit-in!!
he's their ONLY hope!!

I would if I could. Getting pictures appear in the thread is tough enough for me!

Sounds more like a job for Schillid(sp?) or Sweet Neo Con.

You're not the only one dude. None of us would even be here if it weren't for our love of the boys, and for me, especially Keef. It is just so sad to witness the speedy decline that for some reason is occuring right before our eyes. Maybe those who are refusing to admit it haven't been around as long as others, I don't know. Maybe the years of drugs and alcohol have caught up or the falls from the tree or bookcase...I really wish I had the answer but then even if I did, would it matter...no. Bottom line is their counterparts like Clapton, Gilmour, McCartney and on and on can still do it with ease but Keef can't even remember his name on stage anymore let alone pluck a lick on a song he's wrote and played a thousand times before. I only hope it's a lack of spirit and enthusiasm at this point rather than an irreversible matter of some kind. Please prove me wrong boys!

I think it's you who needs to get a life. You are always there lurking on your pc to quickly condemn (within seconds) anybody who posts not to your liking...hmmm?

I'm with you guys. There were moments I just laughed watching all those 'cool poses' on stage. Let's not even mention Christina or the hired pretty faces.

Musically the Stones have declined rapidly. I really hope they can surprise me one more time next year, but I fear they will never change the money grabbing/music comes second approach that made so much money since 1989.

This might not be the right site for this, but I thought SAl was great and ditto for the Rolling Stones

Alright doubledoor. Good timing for some positive vibration. I enjoyed Shine A Light in the cinema and now I can enjoy it at home.

I don't get where everyone thinks Taylor would be a savior. I saw some pretty scary looking pictures of him. Not sure he's in that great of shape either.

True.. Taylor's recent shows weren't what they used to be. But it's human: people always desperately want the things that they can't get.

Just my two cents, but I think we (myself included) are a little bit in denial about the aging of the Stones. Touring is a physical activity, not many are better at something physically in their 60's vs.30's. If we want them to sit on stools and play the blues (which I'm sure would be great) that's one thing, but to tour large venues and try to rock and roll, it's not going to be the same and it's not going to sound the same as it did 30 years ago.
