OT: Bowie Fans Look Here - Toy.

There's a recently leaked song from Toy (The album that was recorded in late 1999 and 2000 that never got out). The song is "Let Me Sleep Beside You".
I think it's great. Even better on multiple listens. It's Bowie in his "post-post-post Berlin era with 90s indifference and almost-nihilism" mood. I love it when he's like that. It's such a shame that Toy was never released. As I recall there was only two songs from it on Heathen, and some tracks on the Sound+Vision box.

Hear it here:

That is a really old song, I think from the late 60's. Here's a video of it.

I've always preferred the Bowie at the Beeb version best, it's much more rocking. i couldn't find it on youtube, but i'm sure these a link to it on the web somewhere, definitely check it out.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

How could that be? The S+V box came out long before TOY was recorded.

No it didn't. The Sound+Vision box came out in 2003.

From my understanding Toy was never released because it was made of b-sides, re-recordings and extended jams. It was never a fully realised album intended for the public.

Errr no it didnt' I think you will find it came out around 1989. the 2003 was most likely a re-release.

Yeah - the original S & V box came out on Rykodisc (YEAH Salem, MA!) in 88 or 89. I've had my copy since then as well.

Can't thank you enough for putting this here, JKF. Totally love it. Yes, really wish Toy had come out. Can't Help Thinking About Me and Karma Man would have been great re-recorded. I'm sure here did CHTAM for the Toy sessions cos he started playing it live a few times in 1999.

Is it safe to assume his re-recordings of "Conversation Piece" and "You've Got A Habit Of Leaving" were from the TOY sessions?

What tracks from TOY were included in a later version of SOUND+VISION? I'm only familiar with the original Ryko release.

No Toy recordings were included on Sound & Vision 2003. The compilation was expanded from the Ryko version to include an extra disc covering 1984-1994.

It was indeed. Being a smartass, I have both. The 2003 is actually superior in terms of sound quality and content (well, there's a whole extra disc of material, covering 1984-1994 - nothing unreleased).
