Sorry 6853.
My country, Romania was in the first semifinal ,therefore we are not allowed to vote today. I save my vote for the final. Good luck !

Serbia has a very good song this year but they're not gonna win. Not two years in a row.

The Russian winners either kills the ESC or develops it.
And aint we strechtin the European notion a little bit too far
with Rep. of Georgia etc.. ?

Re: european song contest

it kills it.

Western European countries, should thing very seriously about pulling out of this contest in future.
The UK, France, Spain and Germany - the contest's 4 financial backers, should cease to pay for it, in future, and withdraw from this farcical stitch-up.

An Eastern Bloc political voting fix, where song quality is irrelevant.

I watched it. It's turned into a freak show. I kind of liked it back in the old days when Sandi Shaw sang "Puppet on a string", but that must'ave been in '67 or something.

same here. watched it, but for the last time because its a complete waste of time to watch this ultra-shit. it reflects the sad state of affairs in the music business in general.

Sir Terrance Of Woganshire, is so pissed off by the whole
Eastern Bloc annual stitch-up, he's indicated,
that he'll probably not do it, again.

The usual 5,000,000,000,000,000,000 flies cant be wrong...-argument, 6853...
Herrey's back in 1984... w o n ? ? ?
In my ears Iceland had a horrible contribution. worse than ours.
But Russia were much much worser than both
have to agree with majority here, a real stinker, this issue of ESC.
Only as bad/worse was 1984 [www.escsweden.com]
& one or two ESC-issues in early 90s
and maybe mid-/late 80s.

our song was a real nothing, i agree with you BB,
but it was sung very well and accurately and the singers had a sincere and honest charm,.. no stip tease feeling there..
that brought us the 14th spot.

i liked the norway song most loved it
russia i did not like at all. it is all politics i think...

At least the Russian song was better than last year's
& the theatratical thingy actually is my cup of tea.
But I'm always suspicious in the ESC when they put
the monet in special FXts etc; often aim to draw
attention from a weak melody.

A Russian friend of mine told me he was watching Russian TV earlier in the day and they announced that if they didn't win it this year they would pull out. Poor Russia - they've only come second and third in the last two years.

Like ice hockey championship in the 70s.
The better, they only had Alla Pugochëva by then.
Anway; I'm glad my country didnt win, so calculated & booooring.

Hi BB,

Have to agree about the Swedish entry and the UK one wasn't great either, though it deserved better than last.

I liked Azerbaijan, Israel, Iceland, (yes, really!), France & Spain. I thought Ireland should have got through as well.

Alla Pugocheva is of course royalty in Russia and they must have felt very upset at her 15th place in 1997, with the aptly named Primadonna. To be fair, the Russian entry this year was their most popular singer with a Timberland produced song and a champion skater providing the theatricals. In other words they threw everything at it and take it seriously in a manner long forgotten by most, (all?), western countries.

I have seen that program 3 times in my life, remember a barfotted english girl called Sandie won it first time and a spanich lady singing la-la-la the year after.
Last time I saw it was in the mid eighties the best artist was singing in the break.
