...Funny, REBEL REBEL could have easily been a Rolling Stones song...how about JEAN GENIE and CRACKED ACTOR... a little rearranging, Mick on vocals, give it that "Stones Sound" with Charlie and Keith....hmmmm.....

There's SO MUCH more to Bowie than those rockers he threw out as Ziggy though.

Wow Keith what does "poser" mean to you. I've seen Keith use alot of posing onstage himself (dropping to his knees at the end of opening song) as well as reusing dialog over and over... "nice to be anywhere". Love you man but cutting down others does not raise you up.Bowie continues to be an inovater and rearranges old material to keep it frash. Not to mention he doesn't rely on warhorses to get on with a tour. Mellow with age man!

And he doesn't like U2 as well because all they do when they are on tour is play their warhorses

I also love Bowie, Ziggy Stardust & Alladin Sane. He's making great music, and of course posing! And that's why I love him

And don't blame Keith so much. It's not the case of age, I'm sure. Musicians don't have to like each other

Saw Bowie for the first time at Empire Pool, same month as seeing the Stones at Earls Court. Bowie was the face of the 70s. After that I pretty much lost interest. I once read Bowie being described as like an onion! Made up of many layers, but when you peel them away there's nothing there.

Bowie did a terrific version of Let's Spend The Night Together on Aladdin Sane... I think Keith just says these things off the cuff. Mick and Bowie were good friends, maybe that's it. Keith's jealous!

but Bowie and many like him from his time was more about image and in some cases less about the music...glam rock,punk rock, heavy metal, etc....

David Bowie is very contrived, that's what Keith really means. Everything David does is pre-meditated to the extreme - hair colour, choice of expression, all the little intricaces of his vocal/musical styling. He's a very good songwriter, i'll give him that, but he's far too self conscious/pretentious to ever be a natural rock 'n' roller like the Stones, Lou Reed, the Who etc. I've always believed David lacks a strong identity of his own so tends to use different images as a way of asserting himself. I'll never deny he has talent, but i think he's an opportunist more than an a truly original artist, carefully assimilating certain more obscure sounds and moulding them for public consumption, which he does rather well - and vocally isn't he just a mixture of Anthony Newley and Scott Walker, with perhaps a little Lou Reed thrown in for good measure?

Obviously a big part of Bowie's image and stage show is VISUAL but
his songs have held up. Bowie sold millions of sound recordings not videos.

This interview with Keith might be more evidence that Jagger
was right (about Keith)when he said (paraphrasing) "i thought you had to remember your
life in order to right an autobiography."
