Driving Too Fast

Here's a song that gets my blood pumping.
Surprised it doesn't get more discussion.
My favorite on A Bigger Bang.

I hope they play it in concert some day.

IORR............but I like it!

Unbelievably dull track.

Dreadful drums and boring bass.

Such a tired effort.

No redeeming features.

Cliched par excellence.

Chug, chug, chug.

The biggest old banger.

i always thought that a few Bigger Bang tracks are...some kind of...maybe "naked" it´s the word...this is one of them...i´d love to hear some horns ala "Bitch" here...don´t you think i´m right?

I dont think that horns could save this track! theres no melodic quality or recognizable hook to speak of. it just chugs along and goes nowhere. there have been some naked tracks on b-sides of Voodoo Lounge singles like So Young, The Storm, Jump On Top Of Me and I'm Gonna Drive which prove that nakedness is not bad if the song material is good.

What a great song. Perfect from beginning to end.

The riff, the slide, the lyrics, the drums.

That´s whát Stones music is about!

Agree with Too Tough

Too Fast is just pure groove!

a horn arrangement a la "too much blood" would be a great addition for this song

If people bitch over such a song - there is no need
for the Stones to record new stuff anymore.

A pretty standard Rolling Stones rocker, in my opinion.
Which makes it a pretty good song winking smiley

There are too many Stones songs horned, nowadays!

When you play this song in the car....I dare you to drive the speed limit.
It's not possible. winking smiley And I'm not just saying that because of the lyrics...
It's a jolt of energy. Even the lyrics of SWEET NEO CON would be tolerable
with this music.

i have a few theories about this track but maybe one is enough for now:
i think it's one of the ones that's going to end up embedded in wider culture,
with a nice resonant patina to it.

This song is the definition of filler.

The inclusion of filler songs like this have made albums like ABB,B2B + VL simply solid records rather than very good to great albums.

Going forward the Stones need to do a better job of editing themselves.

Not a filler for me! One of the best ABB trax along with She Saw Me Coming. Pure Stones. Very sorry neither got a work out live.

Exactly the type of Stones song that I like, where the groove is more important than melody. Think Respectable, Everything is Turning to Gold, Pretty Beat Up, She Saw Me Coming, Driving too Fast, I'm Gonna Drive. I love it when drums and bass is more important than vocal or guitar melody.

I like the song but not the production & not too keen on the sound.

Yes, but compared to i.e. Pretty Beat Up (which I like, too) DTF
has a great bridge to the refrain (Out of your brain, out of
your mind
) and a great refrain. That´s 2 great ideas in one song.
So it can´t be a filler. But the best thing is the slide solo, which
is even longer in the outtake version.

One of the songs that you can play loud in your car with
a window down. I wouldn´t do that with i.e. Biggest Mistake.

Great groove, great song. As simple as effective.
It sure as hell doesn't need any horns.

It's a typical Stones-hard rocking number, but then again it's not because you don't have a typical Keef-riff. I would guess Mick or Ronnie plays the main riff?

I like it too!

To me a real Stones rocker.
Maybe with better lyrics and a bit more passion in the performance it could have been a real goodie!
With tunes like that I just have to tap my feet. That's what it is all about!
(Well maybe a better/different drumsound!)
