There have been a couple of reports in the United States over the last couple of days that the Stones are about to sign a multi album deal with Live Nation.

Has anyone heard anything about this?

And what is a 'multi album deal'? They are going to do dozens of new albums?

Why with Live Nation? Why not with the record company with the big red tongue or even ABCKO?

A "multi-album deal" can very well signal the opening of the vaults to a certain extent. I personally doubt that a multitude of new studio albums is very likely. There is possibly one more album with new material in the cards, but after that, it's a bit difficult to look into the more distant future.

For the shareholders best interest, I would hope Live Nation does not pay the Stones an advance. They should be paid by sales performance. The way records sell these days, it would be hard to recover a hefty advance.

an odd perspective to take... are you a shareholder?

nope..not a shareholder. The record industry is dead, why give a huge signing advance and or bonus to a band who no longer sells product. Even if back catalog is involved...the industry is dead. Pay them a bigger royality instead.
