Re: last fantastic stones song

Funny to see people mention 'Don't Stop' as a Great stones song, I know everyone's opinion is different -- I think, in the pantheon of great stones songs, 'Don't stop' doesn't even come close. Incredibly mediocre, soulless stones track, albeit quite good live as a sing-a-long no-brainer rocker, uninspired lyrics, carbon-copy stones riffs...
Some of the last truly great I think are two exceptional ballads from the much-maligned 'Steel Wheels' albums, the gorgeous "Almost Hear You Sigh" & "Slipping Away", and the wonderous "Moon Is Up" from VL. Sterling tracks all, the pair from 'Steel Wheels' being two of the finest ballads they've ever written. IMO of course
A lot of more recent tracks come very close though, Side-3 of ABB being one of the finest stones sides in aeons - "This Place Is Empty"/"Oh No Not You Again"/"Dangerous Beauty"/"Laugh I Nearly Died". LIND in particular, and following DB on the album, wonderful stuff indeed.
To echo Doxa's comments, some of the finest latter day material has also been on Jagger and Richards' solo albums -- Keef's magnifique "Hate it when you leave" & Mick's "Angel in my heart"(or "Blue") being as brilliant as peak stones.
After all these years they can still do it, make fine albums(both solo and togethar) with even some choice songs being truly great, incredible band.
