Shows I actually considered going to but did something else instead (like a bozo):

1) REM: Starry Night Portland 1984

2) Nirvana: Satyricon Portland 1991

3) Velvet Underground: Prague 1993. I was outside the venue and could not score a scalped ticket

4) Rolling Stones: Vancouver BC 1989. Closest they got to me that year and I did not have the wherewithall to score tickets and get myself to Canada. Never made that mistake again smiling smiley

5) Pretenders: Civic Auditorium Portland 1982. They cancelled the show, broken hand. Saw them two years later without James Honeyman-Scott and Pete Farndon (it wasn't the same)

6) Police: Civic Stadium Portland 1983. Show cancelled

7) Grateful Dead: Country Fair Grounds Veneta, OR 1990? Tour cancelled after Jerry had his diabetic coma / physical rehab episode.

I'm tired, I'm tired of doing what I'm told.
Things are moving way too slow.

I was in High School at the time, and my older brother had a surprise ticket for me to see Bob Marley at the Roxy in L.A in '78.
But my friend and I had taken acid earlier that night, so I thought it wise to stay home and be safe. lol
I survived the trip, but missed out big time. I've always regretted missing out on seeing the Legend in concert.

I have two concerts that I regret not attending, and both were from my teen-age years.

The first concert would have been the Rolling Stones' benefit for Nicaraguan earthquake victims at the Inglewood Forum in January 1973. I was only 14 when the boys toured in 1972 and I really wasn't paying attention to them beyond reading the copy of LIFE magazine with Mick on the cover and seeing Mick on the Dick Cavett show (Dick Cavett was one of my earliest boyhood crushes; I was a stra-a-a-a-a-ange kid). But in 1973 I was aware of the Forum show. I just lacked the means to save $25 for a ticket. It would have been my last chance to see Mick Taylor perform with the Stones.

Later that year or in early 1974, I tried to get tickets for me and my friends to see Bob Dylan and the Band, also at the Inglewood Forum. By then, I had all of Dylan's albums and knew that his return to the stage was a huge deal. Tickets were made available by a lottery system in the mail. I followed instructions to the letter, except for one crucial detail: I did not write the words "BOX LUNCH" on the outside of the envelope. After I mailed in my request for tickets, one of my friends asked "You didn't forget to write 'Box Lunch' on the envelope, did you, you lil' twerp?" Stammering, I said I didn't know that was required. We didn't get tickets, and I never got around to seeing the Band perform. I see Bob every chance I get.

I wish I had seen George Harrison in '74. I hadn't really started going to concerts yet, but I was 15. I could have gone. It wasn't sold out. I guess I just figured I'd see him next time. Word to the wise: Sometimes there is no next time.

You didn't miss much. But then I am not much of a fan, I just knew there would be free tickets galore (I hope you only missed it because you were thousands of miles away or something and not lack of funds).
