Thank you - I heard the Breeders on at Trader Joe's of all places, tonight and was trying to remember their name. They were a cool opener for Nirvana - I was lucky to see that show in DC.'

Outside, before the show, some guy was freaking out and dramatically ripped up his ticket to that show. I bet he regrets it now.

I also was lucky to see the Ramones in the front row quite a few times in the 80s.

For those of you regretting not seeing earlier REM, they weren't good in '86 (or recently) but love their older albums.

Of the shows when I was alive and of age to see but didn't:

-Stones Double Door '97

-Stones Muddy Waters Checkerboard Lounge (was that '81?) - they didn't card then back then - I could've gotten in. my ex met Keith there - Keith stole his chair and I'll never hear the end of it.

-Stones - anywhere in in '81.

-Cream MSG '06 (or '05 - it conflicted with the Stones tour)

-Jane's Addiction's late '90s tour (saw '92)

-Incubus ('04 tour)

-Stones Brixton Academy (95?)

Shows that I had the chance to go to but for some reason didn't

Stones Oakland 78 (I was 14 and planned on trying to buy a ticket at the show BUT my parents insisted on going on a family holiday that week,I wish I had shown a bit of teenage rebellion!!!)

The Who/Clash Oakland 82 (had a ticket but had a horrible bout of flu and had to give my ticket to a friend)

Nirvana 88-89? San Jose (I think the club was called the Cactus, we went to the door of the club on a weeknight and asked a guy we knew who worked there who was playing tonight? He said "some band from Seatlle" we decided to give it a miss, DOH!

Greatful Dead, (I was never a big fan of the Dead but I wish I had gone to see them just once to know the experience, they played so often in the Bay Area I just always thought I would end up going some time)

Stones Halloween 94 Oakland( I went to three of the four shows they played in Oakland in 94 but the one I missed is well known to be the best of the 4)

1) Nirvana in 1994. Had tickets for a concert in March, but show was cancelled. Had considered to go to Munich to see them on Feb. 2, but then the March show nearby was announced.

2) Stones/ ACDC Oberhausen (2003?) - could have gone but wasn't feeling well that day. Nice double-bill, though.

3) Johnny Cash (1993?), Cologne...could have gone, had a free ticket, but hadn't "discovered" Johhny Cash & Country Music yet. Stupid me.

4) Stones Düsseldorf 2007: A friend had scored a 8th-row ticket for me, but that was in March. I forgot about the exact date and booked holidays with the missus in June, starting on Aug. 13th, the date of the concert. Holidays were great - and so was the concert my friend told me via sms that very day. Dumb**s me!

5) Bob Dylan in 2005, 2006, 2007: Everytime he played near our place I had my own concerts to play. Mofo me. Won't miss him the next time!

6) The Doors (July 2005, Bonn): It was my birthday, I had two press tickets but decided to play with the Jazz Band I'm with, which had a concert to play that very day in Mülheim. On the way to the show a thunderstorm went over the area, so I tried to call my bandmates to cancel the gig (after talking to the promoter). I left messages on their mailboxes and me and my girlfriend drove home. My band didn't check their mailboxes and arrived at the concert site. The sky cleared up and they played without me. I was sitting at home (too far away to return and to far away to make it to The Doors show in time) feeling very stupid somehow.

That's it and hopefully I'll never have ten stories to tell.

I've been to that club! That would be a small venue for them all right.

I saw Soundgarden at the old I-Beam in San Francisco in '88 - a friend into metal knew who they were - geez, what a different sound they had back then. So different that the stuff that got them famous. "Hands all over" was their best hit at the time - a great song - but the rest wasn't that good (including "I know what to do...").

I love old Soundgarden. Didn't care for the last album or the 2 shows I saw on the last tour but might give it another shot some day.

I've missed the show, because I live in Europe and my dad had an operation in the hospital to this time. What I've read about that show in the internet, it must have been the very best of her US-Tour. Also her beautiful daughters were on stage with her during encore.

I saw Van Halen in the Pasadena area around 75 or 76 at this club which was a converted warehouse or something. I remember the main act was an all female band who my friends dragged me to see. But I was taken by the opening act whose first song was You Really Got Me with this pompas singer who kept doing leg splits. After they were done with their set, the response for the main act was lukewarm by comparison. And as they say, the rest is history.

I was more impressed with her performing the same day her father died than the show itself. At first her voice was weakm it wasn't better or louder than the backup singers but got better as the evening wore on. Like I said, I wasn't that into it just that it was 5 miles away (so I could walk home) and I could get a free ticket.

Interesting note for 'Numberonestonesfan': I believe that it was Hendrix that opened for the Monkeys ... back in the day. I had friends that attended.
