Yeah, the Midget's version is better than the original. Still dig the Tempts version of "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" better than the Stones. I never thought they did the Motown stuff worth beans but they could play the hell out of the Southern soul stuff i.e, Solomon Burke and Otis. Their version of "Just My Imagination" is good but it is not better than the Tempts, just different.

Marvin Gaye's version is the best one, hands down. Better than Gladys night's also. talk about production!

Billie Stewart - Summertime - I think beats Janis' version by a mile. Oustanding.

One observation: one singer, according to me, beats all the ones he covered and was covered many times without ever being equaled: Sam Cooke.

His readings of Cry me a river, Solitude, These Foolish Things are fantastic,
The Stones covering Good Times are pitiful, as is Otis (whom I love) on Shake or A Change is gonna come. Everybody sounds either messy, asthmatic or candid next to the unbeatable Sam, greatest singer ever in my book.

I beg to differ about good times. The stones cover is good. and otis' change is gunna come too. I like what he does with it at the end. im not saying theyre better than cook, but theyre hardly pitiful.

I like The Band's version of "Blind Willie McTell" better than Dylan's original version.

The Band's version is found on a 1993 release called Jericho
Dylan's version is found on the recent 3 CD best of called DYLAN or the Bootleg Series Vols 1-3.

The LYL version of Around and Around. Little red rooster, the studio from 1964. Love in vain.
