Throwaway and Say You Will are indeed great tracks.

Pity he didn't save them for the Stones.

I agree on Say You Will being a great song - if one can get as far as song # 4

That's it.Four good songs and six straight up terrible songs, just about the six worst Stones related songs ever.

Party Doll is the really only treasure on it. In fact, I think it sounds the most dated out of all his solo albums. Just real shitty 80's production on it.

Underrated? No!

I've always liked RADIO CONTROL & SHOOT OFF YOUR MOUTH.

THROWAWAY / SAY YOU WILL / KOW TOW / PEACE FOR THE WICKED & PARTY DOLL are ok.

Don't like LET'S WORK or WAR BABY much.

The song PRIMITIVE COOL...some days i like it, some i don't.

It's a strange thing.....when the cd was released, i was on the road (working)
a lot and it was in my car player...it got a lot of play...mostly because i was
so hungry for anything new from the Stones or a solo Stone. These songs are
as familiar to me as the hits on Hot Rocks!

I agree...the songs aren't GREAT but when the Stones were in limbo..i wasn't
so critical.

Now when I play the Prim Cool CD it simply reminds me of the
old days...when i was paying my dues..working for a local newspaper chain.

IORR............but I like it!

Now I'm a pretty diehard Jagger fan & tend to defend his work at all times but even I draw the line at 'Primitive Cool'. It ranges from the mediocre to the mildly embarrassing to the downright shit. I can just about handle the acoustic version of 'Party Doll' as featured on Rapido.

Without a doubt the absolute worst album released in the '80's by any artist.

Mathijs

this album is an absolute disaster for mick, a terrible effort that made me ashamed to admit i was a jagger fan, and this album justifies keiths comments about micks solo career

I've said it before and I will say it again: He should be slapped for the Let's Work video.

I thought I had a downer on the album Mathijs! So are you seriously saying you think it's worse than say:
Classix Nouveau
A Flock Of Seagulls
even T'Pau?

To underrate this album still means
to overrate it!

can you imagine mick trying to sell lets work to keith in the studio for a stones album, it would have been hampton 81 all over again with a guitar around micks head

Oh, a new poster!
I think Primitive is not his best solo effort, but I find Goddess a bit underrated. It has it's moments, at least. My favourite Jagger solo tune is "Old Habbits Die Hard", from Alfie.

Well it's not a great album at all. But if this is the worst album from the 80's then you haven't heard very much from the eighties.

I remember buying this album... I was fifteen and already a long time Stones fan... I hadn't cared for STB much, but I held hope his second solo effort would be better... I was sadly disappointed, even then, at age fifteen, during the height of 80's crap music! BUT... the two songs I did enjoy, which is opposite most who have posted above, were Let's Work and War Baby. Today when I hear them the production sounds silly, but I still like the chorus of falsetto "la la la la la-la" part on LW.

Still looking forward to the best of release on Tues. here in the U.S. (esp. the dvd)

Wow! I'd rather listen to Primitive Cool than thousands of other albums from the 80's...
