as usual, total agreement with Gaz.
Plus, I do believe that we will see shows in 2012. It is really very near and if all are alive, the 50th is a given to see some kind of tour.

Who the hell is Jack the booking agent some radio clown trying to start rummors. First off they have said they will never announce a fare well tour. Also Mick was interviewed not to long ago and said as of now there are no plans to tour in 2008.

They sure as hell arent going to make such information available 6 months in advance to some booking agent.

That means nothing, in fairness. They wont confirm anything until they have places booked.

I really think we've got past the stage now where the Stones will ever formally announce a split or retirement. Theyve had ample opportunities and excuses down the years to have done so and have never taken it up.

They'll be an active or semi-active unit until the day that one of them dies or else when they can physically no longer play - and we wont know in advance when thats about to happen. We'll only know its the last show restrospectively.

The wave on that clip is called "Jaws" and it's located on the island of Maui.
I've been by the general area but never found the dang bypass road to get to the observation area as it's not exactly drive-up service. Perhaps next time I'll make a better effort to get there.
As you can see, extremely dangerous surf there...one false slip and it's over. Many people die out there every year.
I'll stick to my 3 to 5 ft waves on my boogie board....lol

But back to the Stones... I know they've said they'll never announce a final tour, that's what makes this rumor so interesting because Jack the Booking Agent is reliable and believable. If he's wrong than great! More tours!
Shows in Hawaii please!

Dunno about y'all, but after the GREAT LICKS shows in the Fall of 2002, I was done. I never wanted to see them when the best one could hope for was a good run of songs, as opposed to a good show. Having listened to a thit-son of ABB shows, I have yet to find one that is incredible all the way through. Every Stones' show is GREAT if you are there live, but the real test is how does it play back?

The LICKS shows I saw, Aragon, Turner Field, and Nashville were, by a million miles, the best 3 Stones shows I ever saw, and the playback supports it. The band was tight, the groove was thick, and each were on the top of his game(s). ABB was more like a crap shoot, and while there were some great SONGS, or great RUNS of 2-3 or 3-4 songs in a row, TO ME, too many shows were simply "dialed-in."

Like Greil Marcus once wrote about Dylan, I wil apply to the Stones - I will listen to a show of the Stones' breathing hard, but I cannot listen to one where the Stones are breathing "softly."

Please, no more tours. One-off shows or 5 nights in a Judo Arena, cool.

To life!

They could do what Phil Collins said about him not touring again and then doing a tour with Genesis. Phil called it not a tour but "A series of dates"

On my drive home today I listened on the radio as the DJ called Jack the Booking Agent in Boston for an update and to reiterate what Jack has heard from Stones camp insiders.

Jack relayed that the Stones are realizing that if they "spin up the machine" in 2 or 3 years that they'll be approaching 70 if not already 70 years old and it will be the Stones last go-round if they indeed tour in Spring '08.

He mentioned he heard that if the Stones tour in '08, it will be in "international locations" (I'm not sure what that really means) but rumored NOT to include North America.

I hope he's wrong, but I've never heard him be wrong before...there's always a first time.

On a side note, he mentioned "The Police" will end their tour at Aloha Stadium here on Oahu Hawaii. I'd rather it be the Stones, but I may go see them as I never have and we don't get as many big acts here as other cities do, so we shall see.

Yeah, right! There's no way this could be their plan.

Even if they did quit, they'd never announce it.

For starters, there would be a mass exodus from RS.COM by all those people who live and pray in hope that a members-only club gig will come their way again. The tens of thousands of these $100 memberships add up to a tidy little sum for Mick & Keith's back pockets.

They may be greedy, but they're not dumb.

That talk has been in the press for months - ie, no more major tours lasting 1-2 years like we're used to

and it will be the Stones last go-round if

Nope..its rumoured TO include North America, as well as some 'international locations'. His rumour source is a bit behind the times.

Man, I sure hope you're right... it's just that Jack's info on no North American tour is new & contrary to what we were hearing for a while.
Also, he said Shine a Light tour is a possibility but not definite.

He also mentioned "if" the Stones tour in 2008, a Stones camp insider said they will announce the tour as their last tour, which is contrary to anything they ever said about announcing a last tour.
Jack relayed that the Stones insider said the Stones themselves are realizing their age and demands on their health for tours and are ready to "call it a career"....and a GREAT career it's been...

I truly hope Jack is misinformed, for all of our sakes, however he's always accurate when he makes an announcement on the radio regarding bands/tours.

Time will tell, we shall see.

*I sure hope show dates/locations are announced soon!*

actually theres been no talk of an actual tour, so he's partially right- sort of. There has been loud talk of select US cities, however.

Read the news. And ask your self this question:
Does this sounds like Mick Jagger or the Stones?
A farewell tour? Are they desperate? No.
They will keep touring as long as they live.

I'd like to be an insider listening to Mick as most things he'll say to the press are of a neutral stance, like "sure why not if we can".

I'm sure those closest to the Stones hear the no kidding truth, although the truth may change day to day, lol.
