Strange. I got the bloody card/cap with all my 100 USD deals through rs.com. But never heard a word from them when buying through eventim/getgo for the German shows (at least I got all my "100USD" back from them after telling them that evetim also charged the 100USD). For Licks, I only received 1 package (think I bought 2-3), but never the book.

Yes, they rip you off. That's the problem with Ultrastar, which is the company that runs the fan club for the Stones. They just don't keep their promises.
i did complain to them about the bucharest ticket flub and the roman seating-chart scam. they did try to make up for it by helping me with presales but didn't follow through with a promise to rectify one of the problems. but to be honest, i wouldn't really expect them to (help me get a refund from a different company).
Hmm, after last nights rant, this is funny, maybe just a coincident - but today I got a mail saying "You are now a Platinum Member" plus an activation code.
I just have to figure out if I have to open a new account. my existing account with the connected email-addy will expire on 1.st November.

Keep at them. NO ONE should let this rest. It will only encourage them to keep ripping people off.
I got the $100 refund on the unused membership I had a month ago. Nine months after it expired, and after a few e-mails and one phone call to New York in July when I was told it would be out within days (The cheque was dated mid July but wasnt actually posted for two months afterwards)
Slight drawback was that when the membership expired, $100 was worth about £10 more than it is now!

Then the Stones should dump them and use someone more efficient and fan friendly.
As the Stones website is partly run by Cohl's son, its not like the band and their management can be totally absolved of all blame for a shambles of an official site which only makes them look bad.

Your activation code only really lets you view the 'members only' material on the site.
Use it until your membership expires (it may go beyond 1st November). I certainly wouldnt renew it - as can be seen from this summer, the presale 'privilege' doesnt get you particularly good seats and theres always better ways of getting good ones by other means. Plus, unless youre planning to go to the US or Asia, its unlikely there'll be too many shows in the next 12 months for you to buy tickets for anyway.

Well it does say:
"Your membership also includes all of the great features of the private members web site, a brand new, members-only "A Bigger Bang" DVD, a personalized RollingStones.com member ID card and an "A Bigger Bang" embroidered baseball cap. "
I don't know what to think of it. should I just let that account expire and then open a new one?
I'm certainly not going to US or Asia shows - well, most likely.
Once in a while it needs some encouragement amongst us - to keep at them.
You get all that stuff anyway with your membership - however you need a code to view certain parts of the site (as I understand it, I rarely bother..if I'm wrong, I stand corrected)
open a new one? well, its up to you if you think accessing the occasional video clip and a couple of kitschy knicknacks are something you cant live without and are worth 50 quid.
>>You get all that stuff anyway with your membership <<
well thats what was buggin' me - I never got anything. the stuff you're supposed to get ain't worth 50 quid, but it's the least you can expect of them. I'd never spend that amount of money just to look at videos with deliberatly compromised sound.
well, if i understand you right, open-g, you've already invested the money, right? might as well activate it and get your "gifts" ... by the way i got that same email yesterday, after nagging them for months about the membership i paid for when i bought tickets to the Hamburg show. maybe there was an epidemic of unrecognized memberships connected with the German shows?
I dont think the DVDs have been sent out yet, Tim. The note I got with the membership card and cap indicated it would be sent separately at an unspecified future date

I'd agree with that, with a slight correction. They joined for "priority" tickets - ie very good ones. Mostly for the theatre shows that were referred to in the press conference.
i let them renew it again - same membership since '04. i bought it to get into a special party in NY for the DVD release of Rock and Roll Circus - they hinted heavily that the stones might appear. of course they didn't. anyone else go to that?
this legacy membership has helped just once, for a theater show on the licks tour. i'm only letting it ride because of high hopes for SAL.
