And that's a pity because I doubt everybody here knows who Ove is. I dont know him personally, but I know about him and he's a great warmhearted Stones fan, a true expert and he had a book published. And this is just wrong.

<And this is just wrong.>

What is wrong? What he said? The way it turned out? That he lost his VIP membership? The negativity? Keith's reaction?

Sad is a more correct description IMO. He shouldn't have said those things to the media, But as a superfan he also deserves respect and admiration for the things he have done...

Keith was absolutely NOT dead drunk, and needed no support from Ronnie before the show. This is the honest truth. I know, I met them 2 hours before, backstage.

I just don't get this... Was he drunk - or not? Why say different things?

So this is a proper way for a major corporation to treat a guy who dedicates half his life to this band? It stinks.

Almost agree totally. I buy those stupid tabloids when they write good stuff about the Stones ( like in Denmark ) and when Denmark wins championsships in football.
So not often.

The truly brain-deads are the people who keep tabloids alive by buying them on a regular basis. That's unfortunately most people on this earth........

You can unfortunately also find immense amounts of rubbish in so-called serious papers. So ? Guess we just have to live with it while shooting water rats.....otherwise the only alternative is to get violent: I mean the Swedish journalists who wrote this stuff ought to be......well, no. They just need to know that they have enemies : ))

All of our Swedish friends need to keep on bombarding the Swedish media with the real Gothenburg-reports. I wish you luck.

I don't blame Keith....Keith is probably frustrated...and a newspaper writer that's
trying to create interest probably thought he could say whatever he wanted
without any retaliation. If he (the writer) saw KR get hammered first-hand - that's
one thing.........but if it's pure speculation/libel, then he should face the consequences.

I just heard (on the radio) something about Rod Stewart defending Keith but
I haven't actually heard what Rod said yet.

I'm glad Keith finally got ticked off enough and spoke out! Lord knows there's been more cr**p written about him during this tour to fill a lifetime. You go Keith, bless you!

Lose your dreams and you will lose your mind...

I still don't get the point of it all!

So Keith was drunk. Big thing! He's always pissed, well- more or less.

But his playin is going down. That's for sure. Good nights have become rare!
Maybe that's why he is getting thin-skinned!

This Ove is a big fan and wrote a nice book.(Unfortunately in svedish only).
And now he fears for his place in Keith heart or what ?! Come on!

Btw. didn't someone post here that he met Blondie in Copenhagen and he told him too that Keith "had a day off in Gothenburg"?!

It's all a bit funny!

Re: Keith Richards criticizes Swedish Tabloids

I was NOT going to post anything about this, but now I feel it's the only right thing to do. So far, only jaggeroo has been able to confirm that Keith was not drunk.
In Gothenburg on August 3rd, the following happened:
Some of Keith's folks came to the Rattlesnake Inn, where I was having a glass of red wine before the show. One guy came up to me and said: Keith would like to say hello to you. Would you like to come to the Camp X-ray?
So I went. And I can confirm the following: KEITH WAS NOT DRUNK. He was in great form, funny, witty, warm and friendly. And standing on his two feet - no problems whatsoever.
The conversation was private, and does not belong on a message board.
I was not going to write this anywhere, but the Swedish tabloids have really provoked me, and they must have hurt Keith, so that's the only reason I'm telling this.

What's this nonsense about "not being interested in the truth", just because one doesn't want to make a phone call to a stranger?

If you read the review in one of the tabloids, Aftonbladet, there is not a single word about Keith being drunk. The only thing about Keith in the review is that he sometimes seemed a little confused. Othervise the review is entirely about the music and how they performed. If a newspaper isn´t allowed to write this, then we can forget freedom of speech completely.

I just received a phone call from Ove.
He wants to put forth the following message:

"N o

r e g r e t s ,

n o

s u r r e n d e r ."

I stand behind him.

With this my contributions in this thread is over.

I haven't read the translation of the articles from the Swedish papers.
Still, I don't understand why Keith spoke up this time. People have
been saying sh!tty things about him for so long.

He's always been one of those guys who just didn't seem to care
what other people thought. He did what he wanted, period. So why
is Keith acting bothered now?

And what about the mud that's been thrown at Keith via this IORR forum?
No retractions demanded here.

It is commonly known that most of the reviewers / tabloids writes are alcholics, heavy duty drinkers and throw their hang overs (bad mood) on top of people they don't like.

Most of them are born loosers, have had a bad childhood and want to throw their angers on top of people doing a good job - getting somehow a revenge for their problems from their youg years.

Freud would have loved to dig in these cases - and would have confirmed his theory.
