O2 Ticket Upgrade

Just posting this to any fans who could benefit. If you don't ask you don't get. Last night I was offered an exchange of my Upper Tier £75 seats for £150 Lower Tier Block 110 Row K. (4 seats). The exchange took place at the bottom of one of the escalators by O2 staff. Really helpful guys who gave me a choice! They had LOADS of tickets. Good luck to anybody else for the two remaining shows. Made our night! yawning smiley)

LOADS!! I kid you not. A handful each and a big pile on the floor. We exchanged at 7.30. and they were still exchanging at 8.30.

Hi I also exchanged at around 8.30 at the bottom of the escalator. I had a £100 seat in Level 4 and was given a ticket in Block A1, Row A. Yes the front row! This is the closest I have been to the Stones for over 30 years since I saw them in Row 2 in Newcastle City Hall! It was one of the best Stones shows I have been to; I thought they were playing as well as I have ever seen them. Peter

Well I just wondered. People here have claimed that the show was almost sold out and now you're telling us, that they had loads of tickets. Both things just can't be correct. But I believe what you're telling me :-)

Well, I have 3 tickets for row 2 of C2, but if I could get up the front again, I'm willing to give this a try. How exactly did this come about - did you ask a staff guy, or were they actually announcing it?

Interesting indeed.

A block row 1 were for fan club packages.

Would be nice if there are some spare on the 26th but if not I am very happy with our seats especially after seeing simonN`s pics

Not Scalping.

They let people with £75 tickets for upper sections move down to lower sections with £150 seat prices for FREE.

This confirms what I reported yesterday. Thousands od unsold tickets. Maybe up to 10,000 unsold seats based on these eyewitnesses who saw stacks and stacks on the floor. A terrible way to go out, in England no less.

Don't think it was 10.000, but perhaps 3.000

So what? I was there and didn't see that many seats empty but people were standing around the back of the balconies not in their seats this could be one of the reasons for a few empty seats. I made a point of looking around and it looked packed to me .At least 95%. Who cares if there were a few unsold seats it was a great show.

I found all this out by default, by asking one of the staff supervising the external concourse about where all the 'touts' were (highly unusual not to see any outside a venue). The O2 external concourse from North Greenwich Tube to the main 'tent' is all private land, so they have a right to ask the Police to escort them off the O2 land.

We got talking about ticket availability and he revealed that anyone in any part of the venue can get a free upgrade to another (presumably better) part of the arena, if there are unsold tickets at that location. I think, as is revealed by others above, the inference is that people in the upper tiers get first shout on the upgrades, but this chap did not place particular emphasis on this.

I thought what the guy said was a bit far fetched, but then the accounts above substantiate it.

So - how do ticket checks work going into the arena?

Do they check your ticket twice? Once at the main entrance to the Dome and then again as you take your seat in the auditorium itself? Or is the only check when you go in to take your seat?

(Basically, I'm trying to maximise my chance of an upgrade)

went last night, Thursday.

Went down to the bottom at 8:20 and asked one of the security guys who knew nothing about this at all. Looked round and saw no one giving out tickets and so had to give up and go back to my seat.

Then about 15 mins later the guys with the seats next to mine came in and they had already picked them up, a woman with a box of them giving them out, by then there wasn't enough time for me to go looking and try and get some myself
