Oh, loochie, if only you asked last September, or before they took all the Daily Show and Colbert Report stuff off Youtube... there was a brilliant clip of Norm MacDonald on the Daily Show, plugging his new CD "Ridiculous." It was around the time that Condi Rice came to Canada (this will NOT be political, bear with me) and there were rumours that she and Peter MacKay, our foreign affairs minister, had had a "thing." There were clips all over the news of a dewy Condi commenting on how well she slept here, with the windows open and the cool Canadian breezes blowing... of course MacKay has a reputation after being dumped by his girlfriend, another Member of Parliament who changed parties and dumped him at the same time... and he's a bit of a ladies man... Fast forward to MacDonald, who was on the show about the time this story was getting airplay, which was about the same time that Steve Irwin had died. He starts riffing on how embarassed the sharks must have been when a lowly stingray was responsible (while Jon Stewart was dying of embarassment, begging "please stop") and Norm keeps going ... You hear who died, the Crocodile Hunter. No kidding - who did it - Frank? Nah, you're not gonna believe me... (It was horrible to watch and impossible not to laugh) (I'm gonna burn in hell...) so to get him off the topic, Stewart asks MacDonald, Hey, you're from Canada... what gives with Condi and that guy? So without missing a beat, a completely deadpan MacDonald says Well, yeah, I know a fair bit about Peter MacKay, and he's pretty well known in Canada, and rumour has it that, once, on a dare... (voice drops 2 octaves) ... he f***ed a crocodile.

Audience went nuts and Stewart wet himself. And now they've pulled the damn clip...

SCTV was a lot of local Toronto / Hamilton guys, including Candy, Eugene Levy, Dave Thomas, Rick Moranis, Andrea Martin, Catherine O'Hara, Joe Flaherty, etc but was filmed in Edmonton. Gave us Bob and Doug of Great White North fame, and the legend is true - they had to come up with more "Canadian Content" to satisfy our broadcast regs, and said So what to we do, sit around drinking bear, eating back bacon and saying "eh" ??? Which is what we do ALL the time... Miss Candy a lot - still remember where I was when that came over the news. A really great guy - as they all are.

......yeah I remember him, my chicken plucking friend........I saw a movie about him once. The things for which he was censored are considered normal today. Times have changed. Lenny wasn't afraid to be a non-conformist....Lenny was cool.

He led the hard life in a fifties conservative USA and he paid for it!..last couple of years somehow reminded me of that period.

Just wrote a long post that got lost in the ether of cyberspace...if anyone
finds it, lemme know.

Hope to have some laughs with some of you people in London.

I'm more of the everyday life type story made humorous than the joke type person.

Do you think Mick is funny like I do when he's not being too serious, and Keith and Ronnie? Actually the lyrics can be humorous and ironic and the performances, once in a while. Used to be funnier maybe in the past.

Yes, the film The Aristocrats! Comedians all telling their
version of "the joke".

Yeah loochie - it was a beaut! Watched it daily for a few weeks! I found MacDonald's new CD on sale the other day, kinda tripped over it, but after remembering the Crocodile thingy, decided to pick it up. If anyone who will be in London can get it to you, let me know and I'll make a copy. Haven't listened yet - too much to do. Aiieeee!!!!

Hope I don't repeat someone elses post as I scanned most but didn't read all of them...
I'm from the US and I always enjoyed Monty Python, Benny Hill, Marty Feldman to name a few and I thought they were hilarious! However I know/knew many other American friends and family members who just didn't find the above-mentioned funny... but come to think of it...there are many American comedians I don't find funny... Carrot Top, Drew Carey, Louie Anderson to name a few... so I think funny is funny, no matter where you are from, it's what you as an individual find funny...

no1 stones fan : you are right individuals differ amazingly much in having and not having humor

an uncle of mine is very very funny
he has never prepared jokes, he just sees the funny side in every situation
he CAN be nasty towards individuals (be funny on somebody expense) but only in closed circuits,
