RIP jazz drummer Max Roach, one of Charlie's heroes

Legendary jazz drummer Max Roach passed away yesterday, aged 83.

He is one of Charlie's heroes and one of the greats!!!!

Merv Griffin, Phil Rizzuto, Max Roach. Too many greats are passing away. RIP.

yes i read this in the paper today about max, i was wondering if he was one of charlies favorites, i figured he was, it was in the bergen record in new jersey

I saw him around the UMass campus a few times in the early '90s when he was teaching there. Didn't really understand the importance of him at the time, though.
