[en.wikipedia.org]

says that her father was a travelling preacher - so she eventually moved to detroit and stayed there. sounds like she's had quite a difficult life...
also says that she's planning to get married for the 3rd time in... 2007 !

also mentions her cover of jumpin jack flash, now THERE's a cover version ...

Various members of David Bowie's band including:-

Mick Ronson (guitars)

Trevor Bolder (bass)

Johnny Cambridge (drums)

All from Hull.

Trevor Bolder's brothers are still in a band in Hull called the Penetrators - they are really good, but they play REALLY loud! [usefulllinks.co.uk]

My first high school was the same as Kirk Hammit (Metallica) and Les Claypool (Primus). My buddy had John Fogerty live accross the street (his folks still had his old furniture when he moved), which was about 1/2 a mile from me. I know Green Day went to Pinole Valley High...my rival HS.

My 2nd HS was Lubbock High...same as Buddy Holly & Natalie Maines (acquaintances in high school). Buddy Holly went there too...step dad knew him (same home room). Same town as Lubbock...all the friends of the family from there...Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale, Butch Hancock, Ponte Bone, Jesse Taylor, etc...the Lubbock Mafia. The T. Nickel House Band (early band with several of these guys)...T Nickel is my step dad.

The Jonses' were our most famous local band , they had some minor succsess in the late '60's early '70's > i gues they did pretty well out in California . They later tried a name change to Black Angel but were not as succsessful as a comeback band . Their lead singer died within the past year , I saw the obituary in the local paper . I dug out the 45 that I owned and played it that day

Our city has the honor of being the birthplace of Abbie Hoffman ( a 1960's radical and founder of the yippies ). He was quite the rabble rouser . He had large part as an instigator of the demonstrations in Chicago , IL during the 1968 Democratic Convention August 25th - 29th 1968 . On August 31, 1968: The Rolling Stones' U.S. single Street Fighting Man was released.

I believe the famous photo on the very rare picture sleeve was taken during the riots and that is why it was recalled

My mum lived next door to the Young family (ACDC) in Cranhill, Glasgow before they emigrated to Australia (although she doesn't remember. Her older brother (my Uncle) was good friends with older Young brother (George I think?) who was in the Easybeats and later produced ACDC.

Me, I'm from Cambuslang, Glasgow. Our most famous musical export would be Midge Ure, lead singer of Ultravox and then Live Aid / Band Aid founder along with Geldoff.

I think I've bust a button on my trousers....

Re: "Well Known" Musicians from YOUR hometown...

I have had three "hometowns"... Melrose, Massachussetts (10km North of Boston),
Stonybrook NY on Long Island NY not too far from NYC and Honolulu Hawaii for the past 10 years.

So, with that said...

Melrose MA - Gary Cherone, lead singer of "Extreme" and briefly for "Van Halen"
Stonybrook NY - "Blue Oyster Cult"
Honolulu, HI - Don Ho, Henry Kopono, Jack Johnson, Iz, Jasmine Trias (American Idol) and probably many more I left out.

If I said "Boston" as a generality then I could name all the bands, artists (Aerosmith, Boston, The Cars, etc) from there but I'll keep it to the small nearby suburb I actually lived in day to day. Cherone graduated from Melrose High School class of 1980, I was MHS class of 1981.
