We Love You
Wasn't that written to kind of "mock" their experience with the judicial system after one of their drug busts?

"And I'm growin' funny flowers in my little window sill"

It Must Be Hell, Sweet-Neo-Con, Highwire.

Transcendent creations all.

When you look at this body of work, you thank goodness that the lads have been gifted on the musical side of things - poet laureates they are not....

Yes and it contains elements of social protest (maybe against moralism also), for example:

"You will never win "we"
Your uniforms don't fit "we"..."

It is very ironic, even sarcastic.

Yes, Fingerprint File is also one. Street Fighting Man may be too.

Satisfaction contains angry simple lyrics of protest against different kinds of manipulations, also about being "on losing streak". winking smiley

Jeez, no one has mentioned Sympathy for the Devil yet?

Not only does it have a political message, it may be one of the most moral songs ever written.

Dang.....I am so ashamed of myself! How in the world did I forget about Sympathy??
And man, ever since I mentioned the song 'We Love You,' I can't get it out of my frickin' head! I can't wait to get off work so I can put that song on for the drive home. Maybe hearing it and singing along with it will help get it out of my head.

Satisfaction I can see being polical, its maybe a bit of a stretch, but OK. However, Get Off My Cloud and Neighbors? No, I don't think so. It just about pissing off your nieghbors and nothing more. I guess you could say theyre social because theres people involved, but then you'd have to include every song because I think preetty much all have people in them. I dont agree with shattered either, Its about the crazy life in New York, but not much of a message or comment on anything there.

OK, here is another that has not been mentioned yet: (Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo) Heartbreaker . . . about the PO-lice in New York City getting trigger happy.

Omigod, I just decided to check my facts on the number of Doo's in the title, and discovered that the correct title is Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)!

I am such a Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (fus).

Political message/social conscience? Yes, in terms of content, but not the delivery. They've always got their priorities right - rock and roll before anything else!

Dobril I thought "losing streak" was meant to refer to it being the wrong time of the month for his girlfriend, though I suppose he could be protesting about that...

Luxury

I think it's such a strange thing, giving me concern
Half the world it got nothing the other half got money to burn
My woman need a new dress, my daughter got to go to school
I'm working so hard, I'm working for the company, oh, yeah
I'm working so hard, oh, yeah

Working on a Sunday in refinery
Make a million for the Texans, twenty dollar me
All the rum, I want to drink it, I got responsibility
I'm working so hard to keep you from the poverty, oh, yeah
I'm working so hard, I'm working for the company, oh, yeah
I'm working so hard, oh, yeah
Harder, harder, working, working...
