Gracias Carlitosbaez for the new clip and all info. maybe I'll see you In Madrid! Can't wait. California is a long way away and now I'm starting to get the Spanish vibe....

Very nice read! I can imagine Keith got a bit emotional. He's had more than his fair share of bashing lately - and then finally he meets with the warm, hot blooded Spanish crowd, who apparently know how to appreciate him, and wow, I just wish I could have been there. Off to Madrid now!

Good to read that Barcelona was even better than Lyon. The setlist is a good one. San Sebastian should top. A question : isn't the audience report on IORR a litle pessimistic. I noticed that for Paris ( 50,000 instead of 60,000 ), Lyon ( 25,000 vs 30,000 ), now Barcelona: 35,000 against written by papers 40,000.

Yeah I noticed that, too. I am wondering where bv has his figures from.

Yeah....and where are these Keith-bashers now?

Lying low, one can only presume, at it seems that the rumours/predictions of his impending demise were indeed a little overblown.;-)

Youre welcome. Its nice to be a 'conduit'. Usually, I'm something else beginning with 'c'....

I'd imagine you'll find fan forums on other artists where they do similar 'live' updates. I know the Springsteen forums do. Dylan too, I think. The immediate 'need to know' craziness isnt just confined to Stones fans!

obviously this didn't occur to your kindgergarten-educated noggin, but perhaps keith actually HAS gotten healthier over the past week or so? or is it your theory that those that attended the nijmegen and werchter shows just have it in for keith, whereas those that went to barcelona love the man?

Resorting to petty insults is sign of a limited intellect (a conclusion I'd pretty much already come to in your case).

i dig the irony, my friend; the way you utterly contradict the first thing you said in the parenthetical statement.

Aaahhhrrrggg! Please stop, this is getting ridiculuous.
Why can't you guys just accept that everybody perceives a show differently. It's a moment in time, nothing that can ever be relived over and over again, every time, certainly not by those who weren't even there.

I've been to Werchter, Nijmegen and Barcelona. I loved the show in Werchter, but Keith was definitely "off". In Nijmegen I saw a show I didn't like one bit. Barcelona was very nice and compared to Werchter and Nijmegen Keith looked and sounded very good.

I put a rough number of 35,000 on the Barcelona show because most people arrived late, really late, and it was hard to see how full the stadium was when the show was on. It was getting dark. The papers said 8,000 tickets of total 40,000 were unsold the day before so I assume they had something like 35,000 at the show. But may be they sold 8,000 on the day. If there are confirmed reports from more than one individual press source about 40,000 then I will gladly adjust. Mind you we are talking about a difference of 10% in these figues, not a lot...

Generally these figures should be pretty good and accurate within 20% margin. They are based on what I see, what I hear and what I read. They are best estimates of actual crowd once the show has been performed. Lyon had a small crowd indeed.

For Nijmegen a newspaper source said 50.000

For IOW festival even the figure 80.000 was mentioned.

Stade de France had 60.000. Pretty much all sources said that.

Anyway, let's discuss more important topics :-D

With all due respect, I don't think "overall" Barcelona was better than LYON, but these things are so monumentally subjective in any case, that it's really a case of one's own personal judgement.

However, as for my own Barcelona highlights, they were (1) a truly gobsmacking version of Rocks Off - SO nice to hear this song, (2) a similarly absolutely storming - and to MY ears absoluterly flawless - version of Respectable, and (3) Midnight Rambler yet again. There's just something about the versions of MR they're currently doing, so incredibly atmospheric and "deliberate" ... a real treat to see this song get such attention from them.

Next one, San Seb. More setlist surprises with luck, these setlist variations are to die for at the moment - do we not think ? If I rack up what I've heard now at IOW, Paris, Lyon, and Barcelona ... I'm well impressed and well happy.

Until tomorrow ... I believe "MS delectable Beast" and I are on SMS duties again tomorrow night. Far from being a pain, we actually really enjoy it, it's nice to know the show is being followed from afar.

So there we have it...I finally achieved one of my personal goals and that is to see the BEST Rock n Roll Band of all time in my favourite European city with my two sons by my side. Highlights for me were:

1) The look of initial anticipation and then utter amazement on my 2 sons faces as the lights faded, the smoke swirled around the stage and the first few riffs of Start my Up - Wow!!!

2) Although we were sat in Block 122 Ronnie side, my 2 lads and myself never sat down for 2 hours.

3) Rocks Off, Respectable, You got the Silver, MR and the other 15 songs.

4) Wearing my IORR t shirt with pride during my stay in Barcelona and being approached by multiple nationalities and meeting several IORR-arians including (I hope I remember everyone and get this right) - Guys from NJ and California in the USA, Hot Stuff (Charles) from Barcelona, Jacques and friends from France and, the man himself, bv, who very kindly offered me a FOS wristband which I had to politely refuse because I'm sure you will understand, I had to be with my babies!

5) 24 hours later and back in the UK, one son is playing 'No Security' on his music system and the other has just asked me for 'A Bigger Bang' so he can listen to 'Rough Justice', which in his words was ace.

Negatives: Nil

I have never been the type of person to give others advice.. so here's an observation.

I know that this forum is about opinion and that's why we all visit it on a regular basis. Let's not get wound up about who missed a cord here or there or whether Keith has a problem with this or that or they ain't got the same roughness as the 70's.

We are witnessing something really special here that one day will receive the deserved recognition it rightfully deserves.

Let's all just ENJOY it whilst we can and remember..

Treasure every moment
Yesterday is history
Tomorrow's a mystery
Today is a gift - that's why they call it the PRESENT!

(Not very Rock n Roll I know - but I suppose I've become a little more reflective and analytical as the years go by).

Enjoy the rest of the tour and see you all at London (3).

Sorry, I was unclear. I was not at Barcelona , but attended the outstanding Lyon ( after the Paris non-event). By the reports, my understanding was that Barcelona surpassed Lyon : a far beyond heaven thus reached.

Just came back from Barcelona. I agree with others that it was a good and sometimes moving show, and I am grateful I could see it. It had its magic moments, most memorably You got the silver. The adoration of Keith by the crowd was very moving.

However, knowing that I risk the wrath of many, I disagree with the claims that Keith was fine. He was not. He had good moments but also bad spells - he got completely lost in the second part of SFD, was unable to start BS, forgot about riffs in WHY and messed up the riffs in JJF and Satisfaction etc. That’s far beyond the normal Keith’s rate of mistakes. On several occasion, Ronny tried to guide him…

Sadly, Keith is not well. He is a sick man. This is the last tour. Let’s enjoy it while we can.

One thing for me is sure Keith is very strong so much stronger than our R&R dutch hero Herman Brood....That accident or whatever...but everyone can see its gettin better.....
