Isn't it weird what a difference a few days or a different camera can make.
Keith looks great in all these IOW pictures.
Appears to have a been a lot livlier on stage than of late too...possibly becasue the film cameras turned up ;^)

I don't think they did themselves any harm commercially either due to the crowd response and the segment aired on National TV. I can see a brief surge in their album sales similar to Pink Floyd's after the Live 8 bash.

The Daily Mail commented on how Glastonbury had baulked at the Stones charging a million quid...and how Glastonbury had consequently missed a bargain ;^)

I suppose we ARE too critical around here.
WE are supposed to be fans...but sometimes you'd believe that we're the people who DON'T like them !

It'd be a crime if that IOW show wasn't released in some shape or form.
It seems to have been pretty well filmed with good sound quality and with all the band looking great.

wow great shots thanks roby!

and yes i do agree with you spud about the difference between "us" and the "normal people"

i've seen that happen a lot: we call average or even shit what blows everyone else's mind

though, i must admit, as mick says, that the clip of sympathy from nijmegen on you tube sounds depressively dreadful

the pic with mick working the crowd on the catwalk is so..classic
and that keep the mystery of their magic
are all these young dudes so deafened by keanshit music that they can't hear keith playing in wrong keys or bum notes?

or it is just that they still put on a hell of show with wrong keys and bum notes and all?

Apart from not having heard the music performed Live before, I am sure a lot of the crowd had never seen the 'floating stage' down to the 'B' stage before - do other bands have that? Things we take for granted now are a real buzz to Stones concert virgins!

i saw myself in milan last year newbies bewildered by the moving stage and it sure has its role in the glittering circus effect
still i can't see how this can overcome the effect of simple bare bad playing

Or - simply - as suggested in other places, that he has been under the weather - down with the flu or whatever sickness might hit regular people as well.

His problem is - this is the tour to make up for cancellations last year so no way is he gonna cancel a show just because of some flu or whatever. Too much riding on this.

In fact, they would probably have to break a leg or something to be "allowed" to cancel - and they know this so they soldier on regardless.

I know I've gone to work sometimes even when I had the flu or something else if it was really important to be there - but I'm not sure I gave more than 50-60% those days.

Why is it so hard to imagine that this could be the case? I was not at Werchter - I was not at IOW - but from the stories/reviews he seems to have recovered remarkably in just four days - just the kind of thing you see everyday when "everyman" is sick

Or maybe Keef was right all along: "....they are trying to pin som death wish on me!"

getting beautifully Banged by that handful of skinny English cats for the first time

Fantastic, that they blow a young crowd away -
and a shame that they keep young people away with
those ticket prices.

My opinion has always been that the Stones and any "older" group always do very well with the younger crowd, overseas. For whatever reason, overseas younger people are more accepting and celebrate the Stones rather than the US...where although they are put on a pedestal...at shows, the majority of people are not young.

Yes, at US shows you get a diverse crowd but it seems countries overseas have more of a crowd between the 20-30 than anywhere.

Nevertheless, still great to hear that the Stones blew the kids at the Festival out of the water. BUT...I'd be more impressed if they did it over here in the States.
