But the title of the topic is "Bands With Their Original Lineup Still Intact" and if you read the first post further you'll read "What bands that have been together for 20,30 years or more and are still active today,still have the original members together. That's without any member changes in their history."

Green Day was one I wondered about but wasn't sure. Same with Rush....I guess it's easier for power trios to stay together,than other bands?

Plus ACDC hasn't been very active lately.

True, but the band in it's current incarnation is the original lineup.

True. They release a No. 1 album every few years, then they do a 2 year stadium tour with sold out shows all over the world and then they disappear again and you don't hear or see anything of them for the next 4-5 years.

Vanilla Fudge - hard to call them active, but in 2007 they released a new album after 23 years and I don't think they changed their lineup in any way.

From what I understand AC/DC's dormancy has all been about a record contract dispute. Seems a bit of a shame. I miss seeing them live.

btw not sure if you're a fan of motley crue but that album (self titled 1994) with corabi singing is the best album they ever made. funny kick out talentless vince neil and replace him with a guy who can actually sing, writes songs and lyrics and plays guitar pretty good and like magic motley crue is better

Hooligan's Holiday was a great song. That CD was quite good. I grew up with the Vince Neil incarnation and had the opportunity to work with him so I can't diss the man. Although there were times when I wanted to ask him what he thought about that CD. I saw the Corabi version live and it was nice to have another guitar in the band. It did make a difference.

Am not really a fan but I saw them live in 1989 (Dr. Feelgood tour) and I like some of their songs. Yes, the Corabi line-up was very good but unfortunately nobody gave a damn about. Mötley Crüe only works in the original line up it seems.

To me their best album was Dr. Feelgood.

to the fans of corabi, his band after the crue, UNION, was even better and had a early 70's rock feel to it

He now joined the re-united 80s hairband RATT and is the singer of ESP (Eric Singer Project. Eric Singer is the current Kiss/Alice Cooper drummer. The other members in ESP are Bruce Kulick (ex Kiss, Union and now Grand Funk Railroad) and Chuck Garric, bass player in the Alice Cooper band). Very cool band. Actually they're more or less a cover band but they're damn good.

What about bands that have broken up, but had the original line up the whole time?

Led Zeppelin would count,would they not? There's alot more, but I just got off work and I'm too tired to think right now.

The original question was about bands that are still together and have survived without a member change or death. Seeing as how Zeppelin is not together and how John Bonham died, I don't think they qualify.

I saw them open for the 21st Century Doors in 2005. They had all four members of their 1967 lineup. It's unlikely, though, that they've never used replacement parts at one time or another. Also, with a lot of these bands, fans confuse the "classic" lineup with the original lineup. Very often, the original lineup includes people you never heard of who were kicked out or quit before the band became famous. The James Gang, for example, toured in 2006, but that was the classic lineup, not the original lineup, coming back together after the many personnel changes that took place after Joe Walsh left the group.

Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, never really a band, but also never really NOT a band, toured in 2006 with, obviously, their original 1969 lineup.

The Police and ZZ Top made their first singles with different lineups than their lineups are nowdays. Also Whitford is not Aerosmith's orginal guitarist.
ZZ Top's original lineup: Billy Gibbons(guitar), Lanier Greig (bass) and Dan Mitchell (drums)
The Police's orginal lineup: Sting(bass), Stewart Copeland (drums) and Henry Padovani (guitar)

Whitford is Aerosmith´s "original" guitar player, he played on the first single and album, that´s what should count, otherwise Ringo Starr wouldn´t be the Beatles´ original drummer, either...

U2'S first record came out in 1980, but they formed in 1976 and have had the same line-up for 31 years. I would guess they're the longest currently running band with the original line up intact who have never disbanded for any length of time.

REM have had the same line up since they formed in 1980, except for the loss of Bill Berry who retired around 1996 and was never formally replaced.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers, whilst not having the original line up that formed the band in 1983, have the same line up that they first had in 1988 - although John Frusciante left the band from around 1993-98.

All still have a bit to go before they break the Four Tops record, though. Same line up from their formation in 1954 until Lawrence Payton died in 1997. 43 years.

Um, Led Zep broke up almost 30 years ago.

The few shows they have done since then have been w/a replacement drummer since Bonham is dead.

2/ Does not have all it's original members.

Bon Jovi - Though bass player Alec Jon Such left the band in the 90's he was never replaced. The band is together since 1983.

Ronnie's actually been in the band more than twice as long as Jones and Taylor combined

If the Stones remain intact as they are for another two and a half years, the period since Wyman left will have become the longest period in their history (17 years) that they've gone without a line up change. Quite remarkable when you consider that when Wyman left in early 1993, the average age of the four remaining members was already 49.

Not in their original line up, but the Golden Earring has been in the current line up since the early 70s.

There's probably some one-hit wonder vocal quartet that still performs, somewhere, with their 1950s lineup. Not sure I want to be bothered researching it, though.
