OT:Bands With Their Original Lineup Still Intact

What bands that have been together for 20,30 years or more and are still active today, still have the original members together. That's without any member changes in their history. Here is a few I can think of:

U2
ZZ Top

I think I'm out already.....Is there anymore?

The Eagles?- although they haven't been continually active.

No the Eagles have had several lineup changes. They have changed bass players once and guitar players twice.

Willie Nelson's band?

My mistake. I thought it was pretty much the same lineup as in the seventees- although I haven't really kept up on them.

I think there are very few. It's hard enough for a band to stay together 20-30 years and even harder to not lose someone due to death, illness, musical differences etc.

I had thought maybe Rush but wikipedia is showing one ex member- maybe he was gone very early in their career because they were Lee/Lifeson/Peart when I started listening to them.

Radiohead have been together since 1986 and have never changed their lineup, but have only had that band name and been a signed act since 1991 with their first recordings released in 1992.

That's as close as I can come to naming one.

As far as U2 goes, one could make an argument that their lineup changed early on, as The Edge's brother, Dik Evans, was in the band from their formation in 1976 until some point in 1977, though they were not named U2 at that time and they never made any recordings with him. He was long gone by the time their first recordings were released in September 1979.

Aerosmith right now is the original lineup, although both Perry and Whitford left in the early 80's only to rejoin a few years later.
I guess The Police would count. They're doing a show in Vancouver tonight for fan club members and then Monday and Wednesday are their first official tour shows in Vancouver.

willie nelsons band i believe changed a guitar player and maybe had a different harmonica player before mickey raphael.

to the rush fan, john rutsey(sp?) was the drummer of the very first rush album

I dig a band called King´s X. They´ve been playing together since 1980 and they took the name King´s X in 1987. Same lineup all the way and a great little trio.

Everclear has definitely had a change. Art is the only member still in the band from their heyday. Pearl Jam has pretty much been intact. The drummer being the only position that has changed. Good post. Rush is a band that has stayed intact.

Maybe a petty comment, but they had John Rutsey on drums on the first album. He was in the band from the start in 1968 and he left 1974.

Didn't they record their first album with different drummer? But true, since the middle 70's they've played in the same lineup.

OK this post fascinated me(I'm easily entertained) and I started thinking about it and the list I come up with is:

Rush
ZZ Top
U2
The Beastie Boys
Green Day
Cheap Trick
Motley Crue
The Pixies
The Police

The last four have had changes but are currently in their original lineup. I'm shocked at how few bands there are that have stayed intact.

In actual fact, if you checked small businesses and offices with 4-6 employees I don't think you'd find many unchanged through 30 (not to mention 40 or 50) years.

So - I don't think it's because music is a particular hard business ;-)

Still, I think it's pretty amazing that four guys in Stones stuck it out for 30 years and that three of them has now stuck it out for 44 years!! (and that new office boy - 32 years! Longer - in fact - than Bill Wyman!)

I didn't know about the other Rush drummer. I've always thought of Rush as Neil Peart, Geddy Lee, and Alex Lifeson. I'm sure I misspelled some of those names.

It is kind of weird to think that Ronnie has been there longer than Wyman. I'm glad, because I've always been a Ronnie fan but it's hard to fathom that the third guy in that spot has been there longer that an original member.

They have had the same line-up since 1971.
They have played non-stop.
1971 Singer Kobor as a student, 1959
Same lineup now Keyboardplayer Benkö

Swedish Kebnekajse seems to have worked with the same line-up since
avbout that time as well, 1971-72 (but they didnt
play during 1980s-90s).

What about changing the singer after Scott's death?

After further research, Green Day had a different drummer when they originally formed. He left the band to attend college(how much does he hate himself now) and Tre Cool joined the band. He's been with them since they had any sort of success. I still think that counts. He's the only drummer that has ever really been associated with the band.

AC/DC, has had quite a few drummers in their history as well.

Read the original post again: "What bands that have been together for 20,30 years..."

Bon Scott died 27 years ago.

What? Have you forgotten the great Bon Scott? They have also changed drummers a couple of times.

True dat. I forgot about. My bad.

The only AC/DC drummer that counts for me is the original one, Phil Rudd.
