A nice pint of german beer (not too cold). After the icecold pee that I had to drink during 10 days in the USA and Canada (Niagara Falls were fantastic, new York City the same) this really gets me in the mood for anything...

But I'll never get it why american beer has to be so awful!

Well, that's an incredibly general statement. Is it not?

I suppose you may be referring to the "most popular" American beers such as Miller, Budweiser, etc., in which case I do not care for either. I am American, BTW.

On your next visit, I suggest trying a locally brewed beer. Every major market in America has at least one.
And there is always the imported beers you can find most anywhere.

Right now, I'm enjoying another pint of Boddington's.

@Edith Grove

You are maybe right, but how should a stranger find the "good" beers ?
And by the way, I tried a lot of europian and australian beers, and they all did not taste like at home. E.G. Pilsner Urquell, Stella , Fosters and also some "german" beers - it was not at all the same!
Just one example:
a few years ago I was in Texas for some Steve Winwood concerts and I went to a well known bar in Fort Worth that has maybe 30 ore more beers on draught. I ordered a Pilsner (the original from czechoslovakia) and the guy just let it run into the glass! Now in Pilsen or a german bar it takes at least five minutes to fill a glass of Pilsen beer and to get a good foam (head).
