I take it you've got "Small Club 1988" with that killer "Just My Imagination" on it. I always thought The Stones had the last word in reinvention on that one ("In reeeyaaaluteee she doesn't fuc.ken KNOOOO meeeee!" - Jagger as London cabbie doing The Temps), but the Prince take is sublime. And that guitar solo! JESUS! I'm not a guitar solo guy, but that's one I'd pay a kidney to have witnessed.

Another great one is from Rotterdam 2002. I was at that one. Killer show. Prince in full-on "On The Corner" era jazz-funk mode (fusing extremes of both genres). His contralto version of Whole Lotta Love gives Zep's a very bloody nose. Always thought he was taking the piss when he played it, but he's sincere as hell.

Presuming thats the same show as the boot "Clubbin' It", from the Paard Van Troje in Holland, I think so. His version of Just My Imagination is superb. Think he even played it with Woody guesting at a couple of shows around then

Woody guested on Miss You with Sting (which I saw). Poor Sting. Was a bit left behind. Woody kept up with Prince and really pushed the boat out, which goes to show what the man is capable of when he's not playing court jester to Count Jack Daniels.

Yeah, that's the boot in question. A friend of mine saw the show. By accident. He and his girlfriend were walking past the venue and heard that Prince was playing and went in. He wasn't a Prince fan at all then. He told me he became one a few minutes after the wee fella hit the stage. Has been ever since. Even loves his last three albums (which I don't - great by anyone else's standards; by his, hoplessly mediocre).

Thanks !!!
But it's very strange.
Two of the new Prince dates are between Rolling Stones' show #2 and show # 3.
So they have to remove all the seats and the B-stage because Prince's stage is on the pitch.
And what about the RS main stage ??

Not if you check ticketmaster! He's not there in the week the Stones are playing.

Is the show on the 24th a definite? I will have to change my flights and hotels to attend. This could turn out to be a great summer!

I'll definitely be at one of those shows during "stones week" - probably the 24th. Great news.

Anyone know the new Prince song that BBC Radio 2 have played for the last two days? Is it on 3121?

Oh boy I just see the change of the Stones Shows. I just cannot imagine they pull down the Stage and put it up again on the 26th?????????

I thought that also. It's possible, but unlikely. Fingers crossed they don't decide to start moving dates around or I may not be able to go!
Anyone have any of Prince's latest setlists, what can we expect?

More shenanigans - i.e., an auction for front row seats at 9 a.m. tomorrow (Weds.). Presumably these are the seats that were previously on offer for £235. So much again for the widely advertised claim that "ALL" seats are £31.21.

as the Stones had the venue for that week first, of course its not a problem

Its an arena stage and with a crew the size the Stones have (and remember, its the last stop on the tour, so they'll have more of their crew on hand than usual as theres no shows anywhere else) theres no reason why that cant be dismantled and reconstructed in a few hours.

Concert venues host different acts and differing events on successive nights all the time. Its hardly unprecedented, and its not as if theyre having to build a 5-storey high stage as is the case for the stadiums.

On this tour, there were hockey/basketball games between the two shows in Philadelphia, Boston (January), MSG, Chicago, etc.
It's not a problem with the indoor arena stage as it doesn't take very long to assemble and break down.
