The star will perform for 21 nights, kicking off with seven shows at the 02 Arena on August 1, 3, 4, 7, 10, 11 and 14.

Tickets for what is being billed as the Earth Tour go on sale at 9am on Friday (May 11).

To check ticket availability and get all the latest listings, go to NME.COM/GIGS now.

The other shows will be announced at a later date.

The ticket price of £31.21 will also include a copy of Prince's as-yet-untitled new album.

Speaking at a press conference in London today (May 8), Prince said he and his band had rehearsed 150 songs for the dates, the only European shows he will perform this year.

He also revealed his wish for Amy Winehouse to join him onstage for a version of her track 'Love Is A Losing Game'.

Prince also said that after the shows he was going to take time off to travel and study The Bible. He also revealed he's been house-hunting in London, and added: "I really like Earl's Court , but I can't live there!"

Yeah too right. And Aussies don't like poncey boys playing bubble gum music. He'd last about as long as a snowflake in the desert before some little digger pinned him down and farted on his precious hairspray ridden hair.

SO glad that after "21 nights" he'll have time for the Bible.

Suppose these gigs will serve as another of Prince's famous lost in excess holidays.

It's a stoning offense down here my dear friend Chelsea to misspell Vegemite. I have some pull with the federal government however and will see to it that the charge is dropped to a misdemeanor....

Nah mate, don't expect to see them here anymore. Should they tour the U.S in 2009/10 I'll bust my buns to get there as like so many here I can't stop loving them.

Last year I flew east to catch them in Melbourne. Man they were soooooo good. Brilliant in fact. Opened with trashy rock classics that they were having a ball playing and just got better from there. I can't recall having such a face of pure joy while smiling and laughing at the same time after they finished SSC. The guy in front of me turned around with the same look. He stared straight at me knowing while I was looking and reacting the way I was, he also completely understood why I was reacting like that - and vice versa from me to him. Only time I've ever looked into a strangers eyes and them mine and for a couple of moments, was completely in tune to the reasons for each others emotions.

Not sure that all makes sense but anyways.....it was a huge moment in an even bigger bang night.

How many times you off to see them in 07 sunnyjim?

I think it's just these first 7 shows that will take place at the O2 Arena. The remaining 14 shows will be in other (smaller) venues around London.

He's not doing 21 nights at the O2, but 7. The remaining 14 nights will be in smaller venues. The O2 shows are to give a lot of people who want to see him the hance to do so - and that includes continental Europe, where he has a loyal fanbase. I doubt he'll sell out all seven nights, but the prices - £31.21 - are a lot cheaper than the £150 The stones are commanding.

That's an incredible - and accurate - way of summing it up.

I think the Stones did pay a lot of attention to Prince's NPGMC online fanclub. $100 yearly membership included priority booking for concert tickets. Said tickets weren't located fifty rows away from the front either, but in the first ten rows (like The Who). Oh, and you not only got to get into the gig, but you saw the soundcheck (actually a mini-gig) and Prince talked to his audience too - fan Q & A. Oh, and then he played an hour/two hour aftershow too. That's what i call value for money.

Oh, and I almnost forgot - you actually got FOUR exclusive CDs for your money too - two download only albums, one fanclub exclusive, and a live box set.

That, my friends, is really displaying what Adrian L so beautifully and succinctly called "humility to his fanbase".

Ah, and before I completely forget - the NPGMC concert ticket codes were valid for EVERY show.

You know what? F.uck The Stones - greedy ass, pay through the nose (yours and your family's) motherf.uckers. Even if I am still going in August. LOL.

I would assume that if he's playing 21 nights in and around London from August 1st, he'll still be playing somewhere in the city by the time the Stones are in town. I'd like to get to see one of his shows on one of the nights when the Stones arent playing. Havent seen him since 1992 (and no, Nikolai, I wont be walkin' out after 5 or 6 songs..LOL)

The whole thing sounds fantastic if youre a hardcore fan.

all his o2 shows are to be 'in the round' -
should maximise viewing pleasure for his fans.

OUCH!

Try to catch Prince in a smaller venue. There are rumours that he'll play seven nights at the Hammersmith Odeon or Brixton Academy - both venues he's played before.

And, unlike me at boring Bawb, you'll want more by show's end. And you might even get it if he plays an aftershow. I'm actually a lot more excited about seeing Prince than I am The Stones. Bet it shows, right?

Oh man... Absolutely. I mean, seriously try and think about your reaction if the stones announced the same thing. Seven O2 shows with low ticket prices, followed by another 14 shows in smaller venues around london, perhaps brixton, shepherds bush, the forum, the roundhouse, any small venue.

JEEEEEEEEEZZZZZ we would all be going completely crazy.

Although you and some others that don't live close to London may end up with some divorce papers... smiling smiley

It would be incredible...

I wouldn't mind seeing Prince in a smaller venue, and would be perfectly willing to pay the £31.21 ticket price just so I can see what he's like live, without being one of those annoying gits that judges an act without ever going to one of their gigs.

They'll take notice and say: whatever suits him. Where were we? What's the idea for the new line of merchandise?

You should go, Jimmy. You'll see someone who channels the spirit of James Brown, Sly Stone, Al Green, George Clinton, play a blinding show that will stay on in your memory for years to come and quite possibly put mnuch of what you've seen before in the shade. Yes, I'm a big fan of his - although I think his last three albums sucked big time - but I've never seen a crap Prince gig, and I've seen him 17 times.

Re: O.T - Prince announces 21 night London recidency @ The O2

I have seen Prince/The Purple One/TAFKAP/Squiggle a few times and he puts on a great show. Whilst I wouldn't rush to the O2 to see him again, the several smaller club shows around town certainly sounds appealing. It appears these will be genuine club shows, smaller than Brixton Academy, but 'secret' so potentially tricky to get tickets. The £31.21 price tag is a reference to his new album which is called.......3121

Just tried to buy tickets in the O2 "priority" presale - same story as with the O2 presale for the Stones - i.e., RUBBISH seats!! Nothing on the floor at all for ANY night. So public sale it is. Not really a mad Prince fan but I'll see him out of curiosity and in a smaller venue as well if I can.

He IS playing TONIGHT at Koko in Camden, which is a great venue. But it's sold out (obviously) and I'm going to Ray Davies...

as these concerts are 'in the round'
"rubbish" seats are non-existant, as the promo gumf suggests? no?
