OT - Johnny Winter Rocks

Got a mixed bag of opinion when I asked for info on recent Johnny Winter shows on this board a few months back. Well, I saw him last night in Glasgow and he was sh*t hot! Playing to a very hot and sweaty full house, this was wall to wall blues from an old master.

Contrary to some of the info I received, Johnny was playing great, singing great, introducing all the songs, etc.

Seated throughout, he eschewed the fingerboard pyrotechnics of the 80's and delivered his blues with taste and class. There were a lot of my friends in the audience and every one of them went home with a smile on their face.

No, he didn't play Jumpin' Jack Flash (I seem to remember him doing a killer version on "The Old Grey Whistle Test" in the 70's)......but he did play a very nice "It's All Over Now" which got the crowd singing along.

If you like your blues tasteful rather than flashy, do yourself a favour and catch Johnny Winter before the tour ends. Who knows when he'll be back in Europe?
