Will be A Bigger Bang Concert on DVD?????

I've read somewhere, that the free concert in Rio de Janeiro @ Copacabana Beach will be offical released on DVD. Do someone of you know more about that?

That may well have been the plan around a year ago, but the delay would suggest it wont be the case.

The Austin show in October was filmed for DVD release and will probably be the basis for the inevitable DVD souvenir of the tour.

...don't forget that Stuttgart was filmed, at least that's some insider said.

Wasnt saying it isnt gonna happen - just that theres no word of any releases for this year so far, with the exception of the tentative film festival scheduled dates for the as yet uncompleted Scorsese film

we can only really speculate on a separate live DVD release as a few shows were filmed, but I would guess that the later a show was filmed the more chance it has of being used - ie I cant imagine why theyd release Rio or Stuttgart for example, if they chose to film a show later in the tour (Austin)

IMO they really should have released a DVD of the Rio show. An event that was the absolute highpoint of the tour in terms of impact and media attention and which deserved to be captured for posterity for that reason alone - as well as the fact that it was a fine performance too. The fact that a sizable amount of collectors were able to download it is irrelevant - a few bonus items would have persuaded those who did to buy it officially.

Absolutely---any Stones fan worth their salt, would not be deterred from getting an official release simply because they had the boot---Page has always cited to that when discussing Zeppelin fans who had boots of things that were later made into "official" releases. (in their case BBC and How The West Was Won).

You buy it because, you are a fan, want the upgrade in quality and/or are a completist--either way, you are not gonna pass on an official release.

Who knows? Maybe the Scorsese film will be released as a DVD set with a concert or two from the tour as a bonus. Imagine Beacon/Docu, Austin and Rio (Or better yet Buenos Aires) on a DVD set.

I really would like to see them getting away from releasing PPV /broadcasts as dvds/videos.

I'm still dissapointed by the HBO show been on 4 flicks.

We've seen from boots that there are much better performances out there.

Sometimes, I believe they'll release something right before the tourstart in order to promote their live-shows.

Saitama is still the best of the tour and any official release will have to have a very talented film crew to top it.

Correct!
Unfortunately, it's no stadium-show with all its effects.

Doubtful - as those shows had nothing to do with Scorsese. If any of those shows get released it would be a separate project. The Scorsese film is a documentary which will feature footage from the Beacon shows as well as archive material. A lot of people seem to think theyre going to get this special release comprising a full length Beacon concert. The nature of the film doesnt suggest it'll be more than a few songs

And no way are they going to release a few concerts on one multi-disc DVD release when they play almost exactly the same songs on each of them

I think a lot of people would like the Rio Show to be released. As Gazza pointed it out : posterity and great show with a lovely audience.

I'm thinking a shortened Four Flicks here. With the FF disc 1 as the Scorsese film, and a concert DVD as disc 2. They've played enough rarities this tour to make a very interesting concert DVD to follow the Scorsese docu.
I agree that the Scorsese film won't be either of the entire Beacon shows. It's like you said: Only some songs mixed into the docu. The DvD release is a a great opportunity to throw some more stuff on though. Like I mentioned above a concert DVD consisting of clips from several shows on the tour would be a dream, or perhaps one complete DVD of a Beacon disc as a bonus. Would be nice.
The question is if the documentary is a Scorsese project, a Scorsese/Stones project or a Stones project. I think the film itself is almost strictly Scorsese while the actual DVD release could be a Stones project, and that's why I think some great extras will be on it.

but the non-Beacon shows werent filmed as part of the "Shine a light" project. They almost certainly wont be released as anything thats part of that film.

At the Austin show, Mick announced it was being recorded for the tour DVD, so if it's not, I can only assume the quality was sub-standard. There were extra cameras on wires above the crowd.

I'm hoping they'll follow "Shine a light" a little later with a separate release of the complete show footage as a stand alone concert DVD.
I can't see why this shouldn't happen or why it wouldn't make good sense.

Wished they put it all the outdoor shows on DVD. I'd love to see Moncton NB Canada. I was 20 bodies from the front. It was a great show. 85,000. Woo Hoo!

I think it would be great for the shine a light doc to have a bonus feature with either some or all of the songs in full from the beacon shows. Lets say the doc features 5 or 6 songs in full, well, there could be a bonus feature, either on the same dvd or on a 'bonus material' dvd containing, amongst other things, some more songs in their entirety. Lets say at least 6 more songs. Plus some additional backstage footage, band interviews etc...

The Rio show should be available officially, like gazza said, its the biggest (in many ways) show of the tour. Just to be able to have an official document of that sea of people, and the great performance, would be great.

Who was at the austin show? Was it a great show?
