Had this happened before prior to Ottawa in 2005 (in the MIDDLE of Sympathy were at various points, Keith, Ronnie and CHARLIE actually left/returned/left again)?

I have a video of Rory Gallagher live in Dublin 1989, halfway through the harmonica player goes up to Rory and whispers in his ear then leaves the stage. This is all during a song, everyone cheered!

Neat.

(perhaps I should have specified any other Rolling Stones shows)

I remember that Ottawa happening during Sympathy. Apparently Charlie wasn't hearing those loops and couldn't keep in Sync. He got pissed off, and split. Then Keith got pissed off at a roadie and went backstage too. Didn't know Ronnie left the stage too.

Ottawa was not the greatest RS concert experience for me, I found it pretty dull.

Wow,
Leaving the Stage? Really? Is that on you tube? I can see this happening but I'm shocked that it did.

There have been times when Ronnie and Keith have left the planet.

I was at an Iggy Pop show in the early eighties when the audience asbsolutely pelted the stage with their drinks as soon as Iggy came on.

He played about half of the first tune before flipping off the crowd and leaving. I would have been pissed also, because it was not the occasional drink flying towards the stage, but a barrage.

Iggy came back to the stage after several minutes and finished a good show. Most of the audience managed to hold on to their drinks as well!

I do hope that Chuck Leavell won't ever leave the stage during a Rolling Stones concert. He's so indispensable these days.MEZ

Similar to Edith's Iggy story - Saw the B-52's pelted with shoes and cups by a rowdy Who crowd in Orlando in 1982. They left the stage after 2 or 3 songs. Several others on here were there - maybe Lukester and Shawn20.

i think its an urban myth, but

back in their drug days, i'm sure Aerosmith decided to play their standard setlist in reverse order one night (starting with the encore etc)

anyway, legend has it that after the first song, Steven Tyler left the stage thinking it was the end of the gig lol

whether he came back or not i don't know

Famous story of Iggy and the Stooges...early 70's show the crowd was giving Iggy tons of shit, throwing stuff at him, flipping him the bird. So he says the audiance will get a great show....they did a 20 minute version of Louie Louie, and Iggy pulled down his pants and shit on the stage and left. End of Show after only one song.

This happened in L.A. last week at a Gomez performance. Guitarist Ben Ottewell left the stage after one song began. In his absence, the bass player walked from his side of the stage to Ben's mic to fill in on vocal parts that were meant to be sung by Ben. By the next time in the song when Ben was expected to sing, he had resumed his place on stage.
