I know I dont have near as many boots as some of you but where do you put them all? All mine are in stacks on my desk, Looking for a better way to store them, I want it to be easily accesable but out of the way.

In shelves, in closets, in racks and in my quilt cover.

I have one of those Sony 400 disk "jukebox" style players.

Once you insert the disk..you never need to touch it (or potentially scratch) it again. You can also type in the album name & categorize the disks too. I box up the jewel cases...don't refer to the inserts/liner notes often enough to keep them out.

(i do have more than 400 disks - including cd singles etc....i keep those in my office)

All my bootlegs are on my Seagate External harddrive.

EVERY where...I have boxes FULL, Closets FULL, All over the place---and that doesn't even include LPs, acetates, singles, videos, DVDS, VHS tapes, 8 tracks, et al... I am in the process of re-org'in' the record room, and am thinking about old card catalog filing cabinents....Just gotta find the right ones. Then, you put them in chrono order.

I have about halve of my boots an a My Book external drive Im just looking for something to organize the Hard Copies

My Stones CDs have thier own lock box for easy travel and protection

Under the bed, in the basement and at my parents house

I keep my CD's on a shelf in my room where I can access them easily for the liner notes, etc. I have them all on my computer and iPod of course, so don't usually use the actual CD's. My boots are on my iPod, on my home computer, and backed-up on CD's in jewel cases in a box in my doorm room. I don't have room on the laptop for them anymore, so if they get erased from my iPod like earlier this year I need to be able to access them fast. Tapes are in my desk drawer, there's just a few of those. At this point I don't have any LPs.

I bought a cd storage cabinet @ Staples , a do it yourself kit . Fairly easy to put together . The jewel cases are stored there . The cds are in wallets next to the cd player with a "directory " so I can find them easily

I have over 30 240 cd holder cases

I love going to the Apple store---great, knowledgable service, however they
are "programmed" to give the response---"Buy another unit".

I keep them in a safe little place... : )

I keep all of my original CDs and DVDs in my attic and room closet. All of my music and videos are on my computer. I'll never need to use the original discs again, so they'll remain untouched until I move.

Drake and others - what size computer hard drives do you have to store such a large volume of music?

You have to buy External memory drives

Here's my external drive setup:

250 gig hd - school/personal/family archives
250 gig hd - video project archives over the past 4 years
500 gig hd - audio projects over the past 7 years (studio and bootleg masters)
500 gig hd - audio collection, all flac.

Each band has several sub-folders. For example:

1. The Rolling Stones
A. Discography
B. ROIOs
a. Lossless - Live
b. Lossless - Studio



I'm a bit OC when it comes to my collections. The list above is about 2 months old. I digitize about 3 cds a day, so eventually it will be complete.

Everywhere living room on shelves in cupboards on desks,bedrooms in cupboards ,boxes and drawers.ON external HD,in the car ,in my locker at work.

It's much more fun looking for lost items and finding hidden gems instead.

My ex wife used to say Why do you need so many cds and lps you can'y possibly have time to listen to them all,my reply being maybe not but at least I have the option to listen to any of them whenever I want
