Bring Back Taylor..Move Wood to Bass
Posted by: COUSINLOU ()

I was on YouTube the other day watching some old Gimme Shelter video. Of course, Taylor was going off...clearly a virtuoso and title of this thread was in the comments section. I thought it was brilliant and thought I would share it with you guys. Could you imagine? Absolutely Insane is all I could think of.

The Stones are not a blues band anymore, they are rock and roll. Virtuosos are so 1970's and most can't fill bars let alone stadiums. Taylor would add nothing to songs written post '75 IMO. A guest gig would be nice to see and hear though.
Taylor's thing now is very blue's based and that market is much smaller. I never found his style lent itself well to fast paced rockers.

No question Woddy can smoke on the bass though, listen to Break The Spell.

Pointless thread I guess with a new pointless comment added. smiling smiley

I don't think Taylor fits in any longer... And why should they include yet another member with a drinking problem? They have enough trouble when it comes to health issues already. Besides - his weight is also a health problem now, unfortunately.
As some others have stated here: I'd rather have Bill Wyman join the band again...

More a case of wishful thinking on the part of some Taylor fans than a serious proposition

Why can't people just let go on this issue? Mick Taylor made his choice and some of us need to accept it....close to 33 years has passed.

wishful thinking

Of course he is. Did you ever hear his playing in the Jeff Beck Group? Good stuff!

Ronnie played good bass with the Jeff beck Group and has played
good bass on some Stones songs.

That said, the idea, even in '94 that they were seriously considering
bringing back Mick Taylor is kinda silly. Makes no sense on a multitude
of levels.

I love Mick Taylor, do not get me wrong, but the fact is the band
evolved and I am not sure his style would really suit them, in fact I am confident
it wouldn't. Could you really see Mick Taylor, on say Some Girls? How about Undercover?

The "bring back Bill" is a much better answer.

ty for posting that snc. it always knocks me out how gracious and sweet and supportive taylor is...never the trash-talker...always striaght out honest...never taking the low road for a tabloid cash=in, or some weird gratuitious project...appreciate being able to read this interview...

Oh no Not Again, Mick Taylor will never be back with the Stones. He blew his chance 30+years ago. Plus him and Bobby K will fill up the whole stage.
End of the story.

Thanks for posting the artcle, sweet neo con!

Taylor has never seemed to slag The Stones. Very class. So many things with members/ex-members of bands tend to get ugly (see Van Halen). NIce to see the boys seem to be above most of that.

As I listen to more and more bootlegs, I am stuned by just how good Taylor was. I missed seeing him with the Stones, but have seen his solo act. Not Mr Charisma on stage, but he can play!

...if taylor played one night, it would be one monster business blunder that the stones can not afford,,,
if he outplays/brings better quality to the songs recorded post of his leaving, its a complete disaster for the rolling stones and wood... the negative pr would be crushing ...
its not a realistic thoughtful request,,,

In amongst all this, what's wrong with The Munch exactly? Did I miss something? Is he leaving? If he's good enough for Miles Davis I'd imagine he's good enough for the Stones
