Bowie in Dublin said "Tiocfaidh ar la". Thought that was kind of embarrassing. Someone obviously told him that would be cool!

Generally when the artists feel they have to say something in the native language of whatever country they´re in. When the Stones are in Sweden, Mick Jagger always speaks a lot of "sort of Swedish". For example "Taaak sååå myyyket" = Thank you very much. Rather embarrasing in my opinion.

Jagger tried to speak with a Bergen-accent in Norway. That turned out to be hilariously funny.

If you wanna hear the mother of all irritating stage rants, go download Paul Stanley's "People, Let Me Get This Off My Chest.
Here's a short review:
Quote

Paul Stanley of Kiss, as one wag puts it, "sounds less like the frontman for an internationally known rock megaband than a shrill Christopher Street queen stuck outside a club at three in the morning, frantically searching on the wet pavement for the last few poppers that accidentally flew out of his hand onto the ground."

If that sounds pretty harsh, listening to a couple of tracks off this massive compilation entitled, People, Let Me Get This Off My Chest, that contains 70 of Mr. Stanley's more egregious snippets of dopey onstage banter, just might change your mind.

"Hello Italy, I love your food, I love your wine, I love your women, I love your Mafia".

I think I've witnessed the most embarrassing moment in The Edge's artistic life.

It was on the PopMart Tour in Barcelona, when in every show Edge karaoked a song".

In Barcelona they chose "Macarena"

The whole Barça Stadium (90.000 people) booed such a way, that he had to cut it abruptly. If he could have been able to do it, he'd dig a hole in the stage and dissapear.

The guys probably tought: "OK, Barcelona,Spain, then Macarena"

Noooooooo Edgy, Barcelona doesn't identify with Spanish folklore. You should have been advised by your entourage.

The bootleg from this show is called "The Macarena affair"

Morrisey- Finsbury Park, London, August 1992
(support act, for Madness 'Madstock' comeback)

he didn't have to say anything.. the most inapprpriate support act of all time, came on stage in a gold lame shirt, with a Union Jack draped around him.

The skinheads in the moshpit took offense, and after beating up the Morrisey fans in attendence, decided to bottle morrisey, himself, offstage.

There was alot of menace, in the air, that day, i clearly remember seeing skinheads, walking around the concert site ,wearing t-shirts, emblazoned with the slogan "Morrisey Is A C&*t", and setting upon
anyone wearing a Smiths t-shirt.

You can hear Plant on Zep boots from the 70's repeatedly saying "good evening" to the crowd throughout the entire concert.

Most toe-curling one I've ever seen is on a video I have of a Beatles TV concert from about 1964, in Australia I think.

McCartney introduces the upcoming song and asks the audience to participate and "clap your hands". Beside him, Lennon does the same but instead decides to add a bit of 'humour' by doing so in the voice and physical mannerisms of a mentally handicapped person. The audience scream with excitement regardless, but McCartney shoots him a look of utter embarrassment as if to say "I cant believe you did that".

I think it was

"clap your hands" , and then "stamp your feet" - Lennon responding to each request with the somewhat inappropriate movements.

If any artist did that today, theyd be crucified for it

BUT:
He also said it in 1969, I suppose... before Midnight Rambler, Gimme Shelter, Love In Vain, etc.

He probably said it again in '72... before they played Tumbling Dice, Rip This Joint, Rocks Off, All Down The Line, etc.
