Missing Stars

Some of the posts here got me thinking about some of our heroes that I've been fortunate to see live & in concert that we'll never get to see again (this is not a competition, Svartmer). Some that come to mind: Stu on the'81 tour. Billy Preston; played in Clapton's band in "02 & did a couple of his own songs mid-set like with the Stones in '75-'76. Dennis & Carl Wilson (Brian was there too). SRV, Waylon, The Ramones (I know we lost a few of them). Saw the Bee Gees once, (I don't know the name of the Gibb boy that died). John Entwistle (never saw Moon). Saw Nirvana open for Dinasaur Jr. Right before they got big. Eddie Rabbit. I'm sure there's a few more.

The Gibb boy that died was Andy Gibb (unless one of the actual Bee Gee's have died and I missed it)....he wasn't one of the Bee Gees.....he was their younger brother but he wasn't in the group.....

..also.....what happened to Eddie Rabbit? I know he's dead but I never heard how he died........

One of the Bee Gees did pass away. If I remember the story correctly, it was the result of negligence on the part of a hospital which really makes it tragic.

And, I had a bad omission in my first post on this thread when I left out Ian Stewart.

I believe it was Maurice Gibb.

Eddie Rabbitt died of cancer. Pretty sure it was his throat. He made some very nice records and was a good soul. Cheers Eddie!

Jerry Garcia!! So glad I got to see him play a few times while he was still around. Also got to see Traffic before Jim Capaldi died, actually saw them open for the Dead in 1994 or maybe 1993.

Wish I got to see Sublime or Blind Melon before those guys were gone.

I was lucky enough to see Moon and Entwhiste,Johnny Kidd,Billy Preston Ronnie Lane and was priveledged to have a few words with Boz Burrell and the great Ian Stewart.

they broke up before anyone died. you must've seen the lineup where dee dee, the original bassist, was replaced by C.J. dee dee was pursuing a strange solo career...there was always a high turnover of drummer but none of them died, as far as i know

I had also left out Ronnie Lane and Warren Zevon.

Zevon played my college---he was about 90 minutes late and was incredibly intoxicated.

I've seen The Ramones in 1993

Johnny Ramone (the leadsinger died on cancer, 4 or 5 years ago)

2 or 3 years later died the guitar player or bass blayer of the Ramones. They were really a great punk rock live act. One of the best, which I've ever seen.

Yeah, damn shame. I still enjoy listening to Marshall Tucker. Sweet (almost Taylor-esque) tone on Toy's guitar.
