There is an incredible one there with a complete live Minstrel in the Gallery, from '76 or '77.

Oh yeah, the one legged dude that looks like he wants to kill someone from Rock And Roll Circus. That dude must have made Tony Iommi very fearful, cause he only hung around for that show.Tony wanted to go hang with more normal folks, like Ozzy and Geezer.

Ian Anderson looks like the unabombers mentor or something.Scary dude.Plays a nice flute though,if flutes can be nice, that is.Can flutes have "vibrato"?

Pleased to meet you......

I saw "A Passion Play" in Seattle 1973. Robin Trower opened. It was brilliant.

You are aware of the "Passion Play YouTube Project" (my own denomination), then, aren't you?

Saw the PP show in Montreal, June 2nd '73: hellishly unbelievable!!
(Brewer & Shipley oppened here)

Saw them in 1973 and it was an unbelievable show. Saw them about 8 yrs ago and it was an incredible disappointment...particuarly when so many of the brilliant songs from the early 70's were lumped together in a medley.

Saw them also, for the last time, some 9 years ago, and was also disappointed.

Since there is no way Anderson can sing anymore the old prog-era pieces (without tuning them down, etc.), I was disappointed they actually did not do much of the NEWER material.

Last time I reckon they did it (defend a new album with gutso) was in the fall of '95, for the European leg of the Roots to Branches tour.

Not a huge fan but have seen Jethro Tull 3 times over the years. When it comes to the listing of great showmen it's always The Jaggers,The Mercurys, Bonos and Bowies etc that get quoted (and quite rightly so) but I always feel sorry for Anderson as he usually seems to get overlooked. Certainly in his heyday he was a wild-eyed,cod-piece wearing dervish on stage. And oh yeah, he performed half the show standing on one leg blowing his flute!

Generally had great musicians in the line-ups, Ace in the pack being Martin Barre (again not a name that features in Best Guitarist lists and that's a crime).

I hate medleys of a band's hits. Alice Cooper did it in March 1973 in Seattle and it was a rip off.

I have seen a few concerts thruout my life, at least several hundreds if not
(more likely) thousands... And the Tull-concert I attended in 84
was for sure one of the five-ten best I have ever seen, when I think it over.

It was while watching the Stones R&R Circus that I learned that Tony Iommi was once a Tull memeber (maybe an original) When I was a kid I was a big Sabbath fan,up until 78, not 'cause Ozzy left but before, with he's last crappy album..

Anyone knows why Iommi left Jethro Tull?

Looking at the 1972 album chart I wonder if ever again we'll have years like those. I love all albums on that list.

Re: OT: Dont forget Tull

Iommi was not an original member of Tull. He replaced the original guitarist - and part founding member - Mick Abrahams on that RnR Circus set (miming!) and only so for just a little while. I don't know if Iommi ever really played anything live at all with that group.

From the Iommi interviews I have read on the Web, he did not get along with Ian Anderson and esp. the team Anderson was making with manager Terry Ellis.

Thick as a Brick (Full of S+#@, more likely) better than Exile on Main Street and Imagine???? I dont think so. Flutes have NO BUSINESS in Rock n Roll....

Never cared for them, really....

But I had to laugh when they won the grammy for BEST HEAVY METAL BAND....that was HILARIOUS!!!! Not so much to MotorHead and the like, though.
