I'm sorry if I affended anyone. I watched the Monkees and enjoyed their songs on the radio. I guess I'm too opinionated, it allways gets me in trouble so this will be my last post. Bless you all.

Matter of Nostalgy.

Me, I have initiated sountless threads on Hungarian band as old as the Stones
(Omega), heavier than the Stones (P Mobil), correspondin' to them and
as smokin' (HObo Blues Band) but very few seems to care... Some response though,
I have got when it comes to Hobo... But dont take it personally.

Gimme some links and I will check yer faves up!

"I'm A Believer" - Number 1 for both the Monkees and Smashmouth. I also have Neil Diamond's version.

We play a medley of songs based on the E - A - D - A chord change -

"Cherry, Cherry"
"Thank The Lord For The Nighttime"
"A Little Bit Me. A Little Bit You"
"What I Like About You"
and
"R. O. C. K. In The U. S. A."

This song came out over here in the UK as 'Alternate Title' (don't think the BBC were too keen on Randy Scouse Git) and was one of my favourite Monkees 45s. Must find it and give it another spin for old time's sake, it was a quirky ditty.

I've heard that before...but what does "Randy Scouse Git" mean??

While we're talking Monkees, I've always thought the riff on the song "Valeri" was the missing link between "Satisfaction" and "Jumpin' Jack Flash."

Possible.... or blasphemy?

Literally? A lecherous fool from Liverpool!!
What, or more importantly, 'Who' did they have in mind, I have no idea. There is a reference in the song to 'The 4 Kings of EMI' which is the Beatles, so maybe....

Yeah, a lot of similarity there. Ditto Neil Young/Buffalo Springfield's "Mr. Soul". Also, "Too Tough" - Rolling Stones.

Randy Scouse Git was what Alf Garnett called his son-in-law on Till Death Us Do Part. When the show was Americanized as All in the Family, Archie Bunker called his son-in-law Meathead. Something was lost in the translation. Anyway, I believe Micky Dolenz saw the show when they first toured the UK and decided to borrow the title for his song.
