Afghan Whigs early next month. Sadly it's the same night as Amyl & the Sniffers. I would've went to that but already had tickets for the Whigs. I saw Amyl in May so don't feel too horrible about it.

I'd skip the Whigs and see Amy again. Just got home 4AM [edit: after a 2 hr drive] from seeing Amyl & the Sniffers in DC tonight... their set started at 12:30 AM. And while I knew that it would be, that was one of the most amazing performances I've seen. A seemingly impossible energy level, and the crowd going frenetically nuts right along with the band. I saw the original 4 Ramones on their Rocket To Russia tour, and this Aussie band has a full-on coming-to-get-you, non-stop attack reminiscent of that. Your comparison of Amyl & the Sniffers to Iggy & the Stooges was a good one, too.
***I'm seeing Amyl & the Sniffers for 2nd time this yr on Weds. And I will be in the balcony! Get 'em while they're hot!***

I was up front for Fontaines D.C. earlier this year -- another great, great young punk band -- but I could see from a warm-up act tonight, the moshing would be endless and intense, and this retiree chose the balcony in the 9:30 Club tonight. Wisely. Amy had pretty well exhausted the floor people a mere half hour into their set.

I'm a pretty big Cure fan & will be very interested in what they play this tour. Sadly, I'm guessing it will be another ride on the nostalgia train (Wish 30) with little or more likely no new material. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised & they play some material from the alleged new record. Sound familiar anyone?
