A friend of mine's mother made him wear a suit to a show when he was a kid. He told her he was going to a concert. She assumed it was a symphony and made him wear the suit!

The Roundup in Philly at JFK stadium featuring: The Allman Brothers Band, The Outlaws, Marshall Tucker Band, Molly Hatchett, and 38 Special. 90,000 people for some good ole' southern fried rock and roll.

Fleetwood Mac, The Summit, Houston, Texas, August 18, 1980 - right on the side of the stage about 20' from L.Buckingham... I don't think I even blinked the entire 2 hours.

Olivia Newton-John, February 1975 @ the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo (but this was kind of like seeing someone make an appearance at a county fair, hardly a "concert" and I was only 5 years old)

Rolling Stones, Houston Astrodome, November 8, 1989 - an 8 year wait for this fan! It was well worth it.

my friend's mom bought us tickets to see CSN at the spectrum in philly in summer 1977.

My first show was Jerry Lee Lewis/Fats Domino at the North Shore Music Theater in Beverly, MA, Summer '86. Fats cancelled, though, so Sha Na Na filled in for him (without Bowser, which pissed me off). I do remember the Killer being absolutely hammered, though.

Second show was the Monkees in '87, and the third was Keith at the Orpheum, Dec. '88.

I had tickets to the Worcester, MA, show on that tour but my report card arrived a few days before and I was grounded. I'm still angry at my mom for that one.

The first gig I can remember attending was the Anti-Nazi gig in Victoria Park on 30th April 1978 (OK, I had to look up the date) with the Clash etc. The next one after that was Bob Dylan at Blackbush (July 15 same year). First Stones shows were the two Wembley gigs in 1982.

the eagles in providence back in 1979...i just took my 12 yr old son to his first show and that was eric clapton at the banknorth garden...continuing the rock and roll tradition..

There really are some amazing first gigs here.
