surprisingly, not that early on that occasion. Must be an Irish-thing - lots of people wanting to hang around and get drunk first...LOL. I think the gates opened about 12 or 12.30 and our bus had deposited us there just before that. The biggest problem after getting in wasnt getting to the front but running down that hill at about 60 miles per hour without breaking my ankle!
At the VL tour finale in Rotterdam in '95 I was down near the front too - 2nd row and off to the side a bit - but we were queuing outside for 3 hours before the gates opened on that occasion. Dont think I'd do that again, though!
