A thought while posted at the "lines on the amp thread"

Anyone got any good stories of how you hid your stash for a Stones concert?

Once you got it in how did you go about using it in a crowd with lurking security or wandering eyes?

the pipe, stash, lighter in the ol' "fruit of the looms"........or have the "better-half" smuggle it in the "over the shoulder boulder holder"

Well, having lots of expierence with this issue at concerts through the years, I have found that at Stones shows, and any concert where there is a large number of "middle-aged" fans or any "older, more established, legendary act" there is no problem getting in anything you want. Security is way lax and barly touch you.

Now a "younger" "newer" band or a metal show, that's a different story. You want to put it in your shoe in those cases. It's always best to shoe it, but make sure that it is either under your foot or tucked way in there as some shows, security will put thier fingers in your shoes to check. Ozzfests, things like that, be carful. But at the Stones, you could probably get a gun in and no one would notice.

The real issue is trying to smoke during the show. Most rock shows are filled with sweaty young liberal rockers who don't mind or bat an eye with some weed. BUT at a show like the Stones, it's a different story. There are certainly cool laid back rockers there too, but a whole lotta lame ass old dudes or even just concervative younger people who never go to concerts and who don't realize that a concert and smokin weed go together so well. Some jerk at the Glendale show last year compained about me smoking a cigarette! So just keep it DL and away from the soccer moms and bald fat dudes as best you can....unless they are in tie-die and then you are probably ok.

And of course if this is in Europe, none of this applies as they are not as lame as us.

Sorry, no great stories when all you have to do is put it in your pocket and light it up when you get there, never been hasselled since 1970. I believe it was my first concert with Long John Baldry, Fleetwood mac (original) and Savoy Brown where LJB walked out and imediatley stated he liked the smell of the front room.

No fun stories on the west coast of canada.

uh...here in caleefornia, you only get patted down to ensure you are bringing some good sh*t into the show. the express entry line is for those already with spliff in spout.

Yeah, Leonard is right. That is the only true fool proof way....have a girl you're with stuff em in the panties. If your w/o a girl, shoe it.

they just do a cursory check with my purse - what ever is on top gets a look.

for actual smoking, with all the "no smoking" rules these days and the fact that i try to have close enough seats that there's a lot of security around, i go into the bathroom and blow the smoke into a wad of toilet paper. the only comments i had were at the wiltern where some other bathroom-goers sang a song about it using the tune of "miss you".

That's great! Do you remember any of the words?

Good idea blowing it into a wad of toliet paper, tho if I tried that I'd probably accidentally set the toliet paper and myself on fire.

Many moons ago Nov 27,1969 The Stones at the garden, l was sitting next to a bunch of strangers,l lit up and everyone shared no problem, back then people were not as uptight as they are now, as a matter of fact made some good friends there and next weekend a whole bunch of us got together to see The Doors at the Felt Forum next door to MSG, THOSE WERE THE DAYS.
Security back then wasn't a big deal.

When I first started going to concerts in the late '80s most of the crowd was openly smoking pot. But slowly security started cracking down on it over time, so I was sneaky about it for several years. Now it's gotten to the point where I won't even take anything into a show anymore. I just be sure to get my fill before entering the stadium, and the buzz usually lasts until the end of the show.

But when I did sneak it in ... wrapped in plastic taped to the bottom of your foot, inside the sock, is a good way to go. Or use a rolling machine (you can get them for about $10 where such things are sold) and roll a joint that's the exact same size as a cig, then carefully place it in the back of a nearly full pack of cigs. You can even put a little tobacco in the top of it if you want to be really cautious.

We use a food vacuum seal machine - the kind that seals food and leftovers - for taking the booze stash into the shows.
It makes individual packets like freeze pops that you can just pour in a cup, shoot or put in your drink.
First time we did it was Hampton '81.
Probably saved me millions of dollars overs the years.

.... the resent past LA shows (including anaheim) just waved the wand, , for pronounced metal objects..
there was no interest at all to see what one eats, drinks, shoots, smokes...

i don't remember the words...with the TP method, you really see what damage you're doing to your lungs - the paper turns brown!

i don't mind flying with it either - i usually check my luggage but last week, going to AC, i missed the cutoff for checking luggage so had to bring it on the plane. i was a little nervous going through security but all they cared about was confiscating my toothpaste and shampoo!

Just try to get toothpaste or shampoo in to a concert nowadays.

I'm quite sure the band doesn't wany any hair remover near them!

I have a bootleg somewhere from 69 where Mick admonishes the crowd to stop throwing DIMES at the stage!
"I love your dimes," he says... "Just quit throwing 'em at me head!"
