Erfurt is a great idea. Frankfurt too. Hamburg would be great. Keep the German Tour in cities that were not visited or were cancelled last tour and the tickets will sell and the Krauts will rock. They are loyal and appreciative fans...and I'll be right there rocking with them. Wir sehen uns!

Erfurt is no Gifhorn or Hintertupfingen. It is a big town with 200.000 population (45 % of Leipzig's). Bigger than @#$%& Wolfsburg. Don't be unfair!

I've been to Erfurt. It's a lovely place. The cathedral is beautiful. I was there for the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall.

Wolfsburg is not much smaller, they have a great new stadium (30 000), all parking facilities and a five star hotel for the boys. And don't forget - they hosted the biggest VL show in Germany in 1995 with more than 90 000 people.

Hey, Berlin wasn't filled at all, 20% or so was free, but the band and the atmosphere was fantastic. And Stuttgart: best show, I've ever seen!

Yes see you this time!!!! I will send you e-mail a few weeks before the shows next summer.On most german concerts and the swiss concert we were many members of two german speaking stones-boards (and some friends from the netherlands) who met the day before or at the show. Mostly on Ronnie's side FOS.... one group is always in the front and the other one more on the side. oh In Cologne we had a big party "Warm up in Cologne" organized by www.stonesforum.de and in Zurich a "bar tour" organized by me of www.stonestreff.de.

Wolfburgs's problem is that Hanover is too close where they always played since 1982. Erfurt has its own region; the next "Stones city" - Leipzig - is 120 km away. And the Wolfsburg concert had never happened without the VW sponsorship; I think this is clear. But in 1995 with the much lower ticket prices two big shows in the same area very still possible in some parts of Germany - these times are over.

By the way, Erfurt is beautiful: [de.wikipedia.org]. The only big German town which wasn't destroyed in World War II by the way.

I hope the RS will play in MOERS at Niederrhein area

about 100.000 people living here, 123 nations - the

ruhrarea on the other side of the rhine which "contains" 6 million people.

there is a fine park in MOERS; open air concerts can sum up to 3.000 people

and the film about that event will be great.

the netherlands are about 20 kilometers away and I guess all the

"nederlands" girls & guys will be there.

I have seen the RS some years ago [late 90's ] in the "middle of nowhere", as mick called it

that evening on a cowfield - yes, a "&%$§ing" cowfield.

[ Was it Scheesel? No. But it was at the lowerrhine area, about 1 hour to drive from duesseldorf]

But in fact, the band flew in with a heli, took some

rounds over the festival place which was surrounded by kilometers of

potatoefields and acres and woods.

The full moon was shining on the roundabout 8.000 people there and I could get

some smokes from pleasant stonesfans before the concert that blew me away - both:

the concert & the smokes.

there was a "familiar atmosphere" like a blockparty - ;

to make a long speech short:

see the Rolling Stones in small places - better on cowfields.

It was Schüttorf and there were about 80,000 (!) people.

Let's say security is tight

Hey Menno,
I don't think the Stones were around in the 40s...what's so bad about German police at concerts or other big events these days? I think most of them are really are friendly and helpful. Just remember the World Cup last summer.On the other hand - if you talk about these dumb security staff people at some shows, well, that's a different story. They can be a pain in the arse, but not only in Germany, don't you agree?

I think its a great idea if they come back and play places they have never been in before.

A chance for people living there to have the experience of a lifetime.

A chance for me to see places I have not been or may never even have heard of.

Would love to go back to Germany to see them.

If the rumoured concerts are going to be in June it will be difficult to get time off work as the School Holidays here dont start until beginning of July :-(

I'm sorry to hear that, Menno. So with bad experiences like these it's hard to convince you of the opposite. I know how you might feel because I made a similar experience in Prague some years ago with the Czech police. The crime I had committed was that my van was stolen during the Stones show. The most horrible experience of my life!

...and That was indeed a good car! A real Tour-Van! I tell U =)=)

Back to the real topic, boys. These are the German (partly) "New Stones cities" for the near future I think:

Erfurt, Dresden, Rostock, Bremen, maybe Karlsruhe or Freiburg (not little Freiberg in Saxony of course, not to be misunderstood, although I was born there). Maybe Magdeburg.

Of course never Moers or even Wolfsburg again. (Kaiserslautern seems more likely this time ;-) These regions have been visited much too much.

Wait for the announcement and you will see... Some of these, my serious suggestions will happen actually.

People in West Germany: Sorry, you had enough shows (101 over all since 1965); now there will be more in the former GDR (with just 5 shows by now!).

Yes! Rostock indeed, unplayed area for the Stones I guess. I think for exampel Tina Turner have played there in ithe Fussbalstadion.

Yeah, come on Rostock. I hope this will happen. I know Tina was there in 1996 (?). The Stones would fill the stadium which was renovated in 2001 or so I am sure. The city is as big as Erfurt; Hamburg or Stettin or Berlin (it's holidays time!) are not too far. Almost nobody there has ever been to a Stones show although every 7th or so citizen has Stones records at home I believe.

Would also be a hot date for the people in Denmark (in case Copenhagen does not happen this time) or even the South Sweden guys.

But sorry, not to be misunderstood: I have no inside information, these are just suggestions by a clever man ;-)

I even believe the tour will start in Eastern Europe (Prague, Dresden, Budapest??) Just look at the Chorzow rumours that say late May/ (early) June.

For South Swdish fans Rostock can be reached best by boat from Trelleborg in Sweden directly to Rostock-Area. It takes about 5-6hours. So it should be atrractive for those to have a 2 day-rock-trip to Rostock.

Yes indeed. It seems that Erfurt is the first confirmed place in 2007. Two days ago for me it was more a joke than serious news.
