But we've known that for sure for several months now. (It was posted here in early September and even BV has confirmed that there WILL be a 40 date tour of Europe in 2007.)

@Shidoobee. Of course. But we did not hear rumours about concrete tour dates till now.

Maybe forty means forteen. We will see.

Wanna make a bet, that the tix will be sold before christmas? For me personal the Stones are history, I don`t want to see them on stage anymore. Sorry to say but it gets so boring that this will be the first tour I gonna miss. Been a fan (and still am) since 1982. Goodbye to you all, have fun at the gigs your`re going to.

@rrronnie ;-) To be honest, I'm not keen on a gig in Gifhorn ;-)

@child-of-the-moon I'm also not praying for WOB. As far as I remember WOB has had it's "after work gig".

@both really unfair to hide behind your nicknames ;( So what about some hints?

@all When I mentioned Hintertupfingen it had nothing to do with Erfurt. I have no problems with Erfurt (though I would prefer Leipzig or Dresden ;-) It was just a statement about the fact that the boys try to milk the country side as the other market has already been milked (or not?). Or you can see it the other way round at least they also will give those people on the country side the chance to see the Stones.

I'm pretty sure that they'll be in East Germany next year two or three times:

Erfurt June 8

Dresden June (5/6?)

(Maybe Magdeburg or Rostock too)

For the Stones in Germany in general please visit:

I don't know if I'd better post that in German...
It must be ??? years ago when I wrote for my newspaper (I was an editor then and responsible for the 'youth' section) a preview on a Bundesliga (German 'Premier League') season - but didn't mean the football/soccer clubs but that summer's open air music season and the football/soccer stadiums in use then.
Let me try to recall... I was joking on the places where real top acts perfomed then: Michael Jackson played in Bayreuth (4th or 5th Division); Bruce Springsteen for clubs like Karlsruhe or Erfurt (no offense! I'm from an even smaller town - of no football importance at all - but Ronnie & Bo Diddley did their set in our stadium).
Even (then) German mega top star Marius Müller-Westernhagen had some 'footballwise' obscure stadiums on his list.
I still don't get used to the idea of not travelling some 100 miles in my car to see the Stones because they still are T H E O N L Y huge world wide act.
But: Remember Keith & Winos who did a German solo "tour" by only playing in Cologne. So, pick a handful of major towns (plus the other postponements it still would be a decent Tour of Europe), add a new Tattoo You outtakes album, release a really sad song on how all of you dealt with Joe, Art, cancer, and palm trees as a single and everything will be alright.

Hi Rüdiger, I wasn't rying to hide behind my nickname. I know you and you know me, we have met and talked several times. Does the name "wahwahwoody" ring a bell? Another hint: Apart from many Stones shows we met before the Bill Wyman show in Braunschweig and got a few things signed.

I totally agree - except with Dresden. That city is as big as Leipzig, it is no "country side" at all, has almost the same number of people living around if you draw a 80 km line around. It's just a forgotten region were you could easily sell 60.000 or 70.000 tix within weeks, because here - that is in Dresden - were too few "big" concerts up till now because the major Rock/Pop acts (Stones to M. Jackson to Depeche Mode) made their big shows in 110 km away Leipzig.

But now Leipzig is visited too much; just look at the poor sales for the scheduled 2006 show. So they will probably move to Dresden; that's it. There are 10.000s of peoples around that like the band and that never saw them before (I know at least 20-30) because most people don't drive to a concert that is more than 60-80 kms from their homes. That's the main problem. Dresden is maybe the most known German 500.000 poulation town worldwide (okay Frankfurt may stay in the bidding and is way bigger)! Forget Leipzig, Essen or Hannover. Comparable too Berlin, Vienna, Munich or Amsterdam for the friends of the arts - just a little smaller. So why not a concert here? Perhaps no other place in Europe would probably sell easily 60.000 tix or so!!! Even a tour start here seems at least possible. Jagger and Watts are friends of the arts and here we have: Frauenkirche, Grünes Gewölbe, Schloss Pillnitz, the VW factory (that's for Charlie) even Festung Königstein - worldwide known cultural places all around, grear infrastructure (now, was worse in 1995 when they almost played here I must admit) ... and big Stones demand!

OK, rrronnie formerly known as wahwahwoody. Didn't recognize
that you changed the nick.
Hope to see you soon again!

So what about Kaiserpfalz in Goslar for a Stones show ;-)

I'm very sorry for that confusion. It's right, I meant it as a joke, but I didn't meant it badly. It's just a click away (on my nickname) to explain that child-of-the-moon is not a f u c k i n g hidden freak.

Don't use this thread for useless joking, please!

Here's an interesting article:

Erfurt is NOT sure yet, because of strange misunderstandings between stadium management and the promotor, but very likely as it seems.

There were also negotiations for the planned June 8 show with three other ca. 300.000 population towns around: Magdeburg, Chemnitz, Halle. Erfurt was prefered by the tour promotors, finally.

IMO that means Dresden is very likely as well, unless they play Chemnitz (which I don't think will happen). That it wasn't mentioned as candidate for June 8 doesn't mean there were no negotiations. More likely is that it already got its own date sure, but it is "top secret". Chemnitz and Halle are too close to Leipzig I think.

If you're the Bautzen man we should rather bet for Dresden ;-) But yes, we should respect that Erfurt is the topic of this thread.

at this point in time, its closer to fourteen than forty. who knows if things will change. and there is still the possibility that nothings happens at all.

at the start of any tour, thats usually the case. I remember them announcing the 1998 European tour at the end of 1997 and it was just about 20 dates. They played about 40 shows in the end

Cant recall how many they originally announced for the 2003 leg, but cant have been many more than the "small medium and large" format for the five cities that got. Maybe 20-25 shows. They played about 45 in the end. Originally, the entire UK and Ireland leg consisted of the 3 London shows. They played 11 shows in the end.

When it comes to Dresden I have no expectations, because the authorities are out of time there. A planned concert in the past failed due to too many legal constraints. In this result the treck had chosen Leipzig again for the one and only show in Saxony. What a shame.
